Thomas Williams (politician, 1825)
Thomas Williams (born August 11, 1825 near Richmond , Greensville County , Virginia , † April 13, 1903 in Wetumpka , Elmore County , Alabama ) was an American lawyer, judge and politician ( Democratic Party ).
Career
Thomas Williams attended private prep school and graduated from the University of East Tennessee at Knoxville . He studied law , was admitted to the bar in 1852 and then began practicing in Wetumpka. Then he worked as a justice of the peace and also as a register at the Chancery . Williams was appointed prison inspector in 1872. He was a member of the Alabama House of Representatives in 1878 . Then he was elected to the 46th US Congress and re - elected to the two subsequent US Congresses . He served in the US House of Representatives from March 4, 1879 to March 3, 1885. Then he went to agricultural activities.
