List of residents of Duckburg

In this list, residents of the fictional city of Duckburg are described in Disney comics such as the Mickey Mouse notebooks, funny paperbacks ( LTB ), series and films as well as characters that are closely related to these residents.

The residents of the city are all anthropomorphic animals of the most diverse species ; the "normal" citizens consist predominantly (but not only) of dogs and pigs, less often of ducks and mice, in order to distinguish them from the main characters. Two groups are predominant, on the one hand the Duck clan around Donald Duck , called the Duck Kosmos, on the other hand the clan around Mickey Mouse , known as the Mouse Cosmos. The fact that they live together in Duckburg is only the case in German, Dutch, Scandinavian and Brazilian comics - originally the Ducks in American comics live in Duckburg , while Mickey Mouse and his close friends and relatives live in Mouseton . In Germany, these two cities were merged, so to speak. In the course of the decades, various new figures were invented, for example in the 1930s. For example, the dog Bolivar , which is rarely featured in stories today, or characters like Indiana Goof , which were created between the 1980s and 1990s. It is amazing that even among animals, a distinction is made between human and animal beings; that means, there are still no animals in Duckburg that behave like humans - one example is Pluto , who, in contrast to the other characters, behaves like a completely "normal" dog.

Most of the Ducks characters were created by Carl Barks , Al Taliaferro , Floyd Gottfredson and Romano Scarpa .

Donald Duck

Donald Fauntleroy Duck was originally formed as a counterpart to the clever Mickey Mouse invented and made his first appearance in the short film The Wise Little Hen ( The Wise Little Hen ) of 1934, then with his first companion Peter Pig . Donald's middle name, Fauntleroy , is a nod to his sailor suit, which was called Fauntler in the 1930s . However, it is rarely mentioned. Donald is notoriously unlucky who always takes his misadventures very personally and usually reacts cholerically to them. In more recent stories in particular, he is heavily indebted to his uncle Dagobert and has to work for him or accompany him on adventurous journeys, usually treasure hunts. Its chronic unemployment is also characteristic . Donald tries again and again in new activities, which he usually loses quickly. In Mickey Mouse magazine he is u. a. worked as an employee in the margarine factory, while he can be seen in the LTB ( Funny Pocket Book ) as a coin polisher for Dagobert Duck. From Walt Disney himself was determined that Donald on a 13 Friday , was born in March. However, various comic episodes record that Donald's birthday is on June 9, 1934, the release date of The Wise Little Hen . In addition, Donald repeatedly comes into conflict with Gustav Gans, who competes with him for Daisy's favor.

Phantomias

Phantomias (Italian Paperinik ) is an alter ego of Donald Duck, originally created to let Donald take revenge at night on people who take advantage of him or who play ill with him, such as his uncle Dagobert Duck or Gustav Gans. In the German-speaking area it is mentioned for the first time in the story The Metamorphosis in LTB No. 41. Donald is always on the alert to keep his second self a secret. In the LTB mentioned, the postman confuses Gustav Gans with Donald. The latter thinks that he has won the "Villa Rosa". During the tour of the house he discovers the diary of Phantomias, which is a kind of Robin Hood. He decides to follow in his footsteps. Donald pretends to be Phantomias' best friend and seems to provide him with information. At the same time, Donald is mostly a beneficiary of Phantomias' "semi-legal" activities. Phantomias' hiding place is in the secret basement of Donald's house, which is connected to Donald's bedroom by an elevator disguised as a wardrobe . He also hunts criminals with the help of some inventions by Daniel Düsentrieb and proves as a superhero that Donald can also be a winner, even if only in secret. He is also known as the Masked Avenger.

Agent DoppelDuck

Agent DoppelDuck (Italian Doubleduck ) is Donald who works for a secret service, the agency. The first DoppelDuck comic appeared in LTB No. 384. Donald Duck is not permanently employed by the agency, but is only consulted on extremely sensitive missions. Mostly he has to work with the agent Kay-K, who later leaves the agency. The agency's top boss is so secret that he hardly knows his name himself. Only DoppelDuck and the agency's director know him. In some comics it is shown that a hologram of the positive qualities of DoppelDuck is the top boss of the agency.

Bolivar

Bolivar (English Bolivar , Bornworthy , Borny or Bernie , especially in older translations also German Bernie , very rarely also Berni or Barbarossa ) is Donald's calf-sized St. Bernard . It was invented by Al Taliaferro and rarely appears in the stories of other cartoonists; most often it is used by vicar . He also has a son named Flocki , who was also invented by Taliaferro. Bolivar is lazy, greedy and very good-natured.

Schnurri

Schnurri (also Schnurlli , Mauzi or Maunzi , English tabby ) is Donald's house cat. It was invented by Dick Kinney and Al Hubbard . In contrast to the silent Bolivar, the reader participates in his thoughts. He is terrified of Dussel, whose appearance he always foresees in advance. Thereupon he always searches in vain for his salvation in flight. Schnurri also appears in the stories of Barks and Vicar , but only as a background character.

Tick, trick and track duck

The triplets Tick, Trick and Track ( Huey, Dewey and Louie ) are the sons of Donald's sister "Della Duck" (also: Dumbella Duck, Thelma Duck). Her father's name is unknown, but Don Rosa once claimed it was Daisy Duck's brother . You live with your uncle Donald. In the short film "Donald's Nephews" from 1938, her mother is called Dumbella.

The three are scouts with the Fieselschweif Fähnlein ( Junior Woodchucks ) and always have The Smart Book at hand. You can only tell them apart by their different colored hats. However, the colors cannot be assigned to a specific figure, as they vary depending on the artist (for most artists, Tick is the red, Trick is the blue and Track is the green). It is almost always the colors blue, red and green; in older stories by Vicar there is also yellow instead of green. In Al Taliaferro's comics , they can be distinguished by a colored breast ring on the sweater. Mostly they also use towels, bags, bed linen etc. in their respective hat color. In some comics they are well-behaved and obedient, in others sensible and intelligent and spiritually mature, and in still others they are portrayed as naughty, naughty children. For example, in one story they refuse to obey their uncle's request and get into the bathtub. They shake hands and speak the famous words from the translator Erika Fuchs: "We want to be a united people of brothers, in no need to wash and to be in danger" (this is an allusion to the Rütli oath as it was in Schiller's Wilhelm Tell is formulated).

In the first issue of Mickey Mouse magazine from 1951, their Danish names Rip, Rap and Rup were used in one picture .

In some stories, the three of them have a mistakenly added extra brother named Phooey Duck by editor Bob Foster . In German it was given the name Truck .

The three brothers first appear in the newspaper comic from October 17, 1937. Their first film appearance was on April 15, 1938 in the cartoon Donald's Nephews , in which they ravage Donald's house. They then appeared in 24 other short feature films. They experienced a cinematic resurgence in the animated television series DuckTales (1987–1990) and Quack Pack (1996). They are also represented in the new edition of the DuckTales .

Scrooge McDuck

Dagobert Duck (English Scrooge McDuck , also written $ crooge ) is referred to as the "richest duck in the world" in the Disney comics. His English name Uncle Scrooge is derived from Ebenezer Scrooge , the rich and stingy main character in Charles Dickens ' A Christmas Carol . Dagobert Duck is half owned by Duckburg and he wants to keep increasing his wealth. Furthermore, he is considered the stingiest man far and wide.

In Italian and Danish comics, Dagobert is considered the brother of Grandma Duck (Dorette Duck), but not in American comics. Erika Fuchs also translated Barks' comics to the effect that Dagobert and Dorette are siblings. This translation was retained by other draftsmen, only in the translations of Rosa's stories the American relationship is used.

He was also one of the main characters in the DuckTales series . In the cartoon Uncle Scrooge and Money , Bill Thompson lends him his voice, in all other productions Alan Young . Dagobert's German voice was initially Hermann Ebeling , later Joscha Fischer-Antze .

Between 1991 and 1993 Don Rosa wrote his life, the billions of Scrooge's life story, according to which he was born in 1867. In 1877 he earned his first money from a shoe shine box that his father had built for him. However, this was an American coin that encourages Dagobert to be more careful and "to be harder than the toughest and smarter than the smartest" until he made it to the top in an honest way. The coin obtained from a friend of his father's is Dagobert's number 1 and was invented by Carl Barks. After his life, his billions , he hates the expression "lucky tens" because he built up all his fortune on his own.

Daisy Duck

Daisy Duck (English also Daisy Duck ) is the fiancé of Donald Duck and adored of Gustav Gans. Her heart clearly belongs to Donald, but she flirts with Gustav every now and then. She is also Phantomime, the female form of Phantomias (LTB No. 57).

It was only Carl Barks who gave her the image that is still known today with a hair bow, blouse with puffed sleeves, pumps and arm rings and long eyelashes . At Taliaferro she mostly wore the fashion of the time with hats. Daisy Duck is a member of various ladies' clubs and parties in Duckburg.

Daisy Duck's first appearance was in the short film Mr. Duck Steps Out , in German Ein Tänzchen mit Daisy (1940).

Donna Duck

Donna Duck (English also Donna Duck ) made her debut in the Disney cartoon Don Donald (1937). There are different views as to whether Donna Duck is the same as Daisy Duck. This view is often held, but there are several comics by Bob Karp in which the two characters meet.

Dicky, Dacky and Ducky Duck

Dicky, Dacky and Ducky ( April, May and June ) are Daisy Duck's nieces, who occasionally visit her. They are also more or less good friends of tick, trick and track. Gustav Goose

Gustav Gans ( Gladstone Gander ) is Donald Duck's cousin and, especially in the stories of Carl Barks and Vicar, his bitter rival for the favor of Daisy Ducks, who is considered Donald's girlfriend. Despite his last name, he is a duck. His most outstanding quality is his luck, which is always by his side. According to a story created by Don Rosa, he got this from his mother, who was also blessed with happiness. On one birthday, he was left lucky when he was struck by lightning, but he found it again on one of the later birthdays. Because of his enormous fortune Gustav often wins the lottery or sweepstakes , takes vast sums of money on the street or diamonds in chocolate boxes . Accordingly, he relies on Fortuna and abhors any work . In more recent stories, the stereotype Gustav, the lucky guy, is sometimes broken. In contrast to Dagobert Duck, Gustav did not achieve great wealth because he sacrificed the money he gained to his hedonistic way of life. According to Rosa, his father was General Golo Gans, his mother Daphne Duck, the daughter Dorette Ducks. One of his ancestors is the knight Gustavus the Lucky, who in the story of Drachengold has to get one of three keys in LTB 197, but in the meantime he loses his luck and in the end he is even worse off than his colleagues Dusselbart and Franzerich.

Dorette Duck

Dorette Anette Liesette Duck ( Elvira "Grandma Duck" Coot ) or Grandma Duck is after Don Rosa the mother of Donald Duck's father Degenhard Duck, Gustav Gans' mother Daphne Duck, Dussel's father Teddy Duck and granddaughter of the town founder Emil Erasmus Erpel ( 1790–1880), but does not belong to the McDuck branch of the family. Dorette owns a farm on the outskirts of Duckburg. She is very well known for her delicious apple pie, which the whole family loves to eat. But she is also very good at preparing other dishes of all kinds, which is why there are often family celebrations on her farm. Her husband's name was Hilmar Duck, her parents were Gunhilda Gans and Emelrich Erpel, the founder of the Fieselschweif flag. Franz Gans is the grandson of her late brother Emanuel Erpel. In some of the older comics her name was Annette. She drives a Detroit Electric , an electric car.

In some translations, especially those by Erika Fuchs, she is introduced as the sister of Dagobert, in others, as mentioned above, she is the mother of Dagobert's brother-in-law. The representation that she is not Scrooge's sister is used mainly by Don Rosa, Scrooge’s sister is especially used in the stories of Vicar.

Their farm animals, Hansi the horse, Billy and Fridolin the billy goat, Susi the pig, Emilie the chicken and Ferdinand and Stefan the bull have regular appearances at Carl Barks and Vicar .

Franz Goose

Franz Gans (English Gus Goose ) is a cousin of Donald Duck and works as a farmhand on Dorette Duck's farm. His favorite pastimes are eating and sleeping. Dorette Duck shows him remarkable tolerance and lets him go.

Franz Gans first appeared on April 6, 1938 in an Italian comic book. Its creators are Bob Karp and Al Taliaferro .

The German name comes from the fact that the correct translation by Gustav Gans was already taken when it was Germanized . Franz Gans is one of the few whose German name is not based on an alliteration but on a rhyme.

His parents are based on the family tree of Rosa Wilhelmine Erpel (daughter of Emanuel Erpel) and Gangolf Gans. One of his ancestors is probably Franzerich the Well-Body, who appears in the stories Drachengold (LTB 197), The Knight Without Fear and Nobility (LTB 203) and The Spirit from the Kanne (LTB 226). He lived in the Middle Ages and, like Franz, is greedy and lazy and does not like to fight. In the first story, however, he emerges victorious.

Fränzchen

Franz also has a nephew named Fränzchen (English Pepper ), who is exactly the opposite of his uncle in that he is interested in sports and there is nothing worse for him than nothing to do. His dream is to become a professional basketball player .

Primus by Quack

Primus Quack (Engl. Ludwig von Drake ), who still goes back to Walt Disney, "by polymath as the archeology to zoology everything has studied what one can only study" academic degrees in all sorts of disciplines and supports the family Duck with his more or less helpful theoretical knowledge. Von Quack works as a university professor, provided his research allows this. According to his own statement, von Quack has 166 doctoral hats and 92 state exams (LTB 25) or a certificate certifying that he is the scientist with the most certificates (LTB 307). He only admits that geography has never been “his subject” (MM 27/76). Von Quack always tries to get to the bottom of the problem scientifically ("What is clear anyway needs to be examined particularly well") and also arouses reluctance ("Scientist. Wiener. Do you have to be surprised?" (LTB 391, p. 185)).

His white hair, his friendly and sometimes scientifically absent-minded nature and his large private library are characteristic of him. With his pursuit of knowledge - "the honorable service to science" - he stands in contrast to the practical genius Daniel Düsentrieb, but shares with him the lack of interest in business. Primus von Quack usually wears a fine fir-green traditional jacket. His hobbies are mountaineering and everything with the ending "-logie" such as ornithology , geology or paleontology . He especially likes Wiener Schnitzel , Wiener Krapfen , Sachertorte , Kaiserschmarrn and grandma’s good food. His favorite animals are all from the high alpine mountains and his favorite plant is chamomile .

As one of the few residents of Duckburg, he maintains good relationships with Dagobert Duck without any business interest and is often consulted by him as an expert or mediated in the event of a dispute. Once Primus is in town, which is less often the case, the meetings with Dagobert are often friendly, only Primus' various ideas are often skeptical about Dagobert. Conversely, von Quack is allowed to express his opinion to his cousin Dagobert without being contradicted, such as: "Anyone who deals with human history solely to enrich himself instead of looking at it for its own sake is not worthy of its treasures!"

Ludwig Von Drake first appeared in 1961 as a presenter in the short film An Adventure in Color in the show Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color radio station NBC and was introduced as Donald Duck's uncle. Von Quack was a brilliant mediator of knowledge on these programs. Ward Kimball , one of Disney's Nine Old Men , was responsible for animating this character . The first comic he appeared in was the "Primus von Quack Mini-Series" (1961–1962); At the same time he appeared in various series by WDC and Donald Duck (examples: DD 91 and WDC 283). Barks used it only once, in a one-pager in "Uncle Dagobert No. 54". After that it was mostly used in European stories, but Americans Tom Yakutis and Bill White also produced some stories about it under the name of March of Science or those that appeared in WDC & S 555, 557, 559 and 561. In LTB 46 - Enten Edition (2015), Primus von Quack (as Walt Disney initially presented him) appears as a knowledge mediator in 22 short stories about topics such as archeology, bureaucracy, the discovery of fire, consumer society or manners. Under a pseudonym , so as not to endanger his scientific reputation, von Quack works as a fiction author and writes an autobiographical series of novels about the adventure archaeologist Crocodile Duckee (LTB-Spezial 66).

Primus says of himself that he comes from Vienna. The 111 cm wide by Quack was loud Comics on September 24, 1924. Austrian Vienna born and visited Alpine rear Walden primary school. Eberhard Prüter , who acted as the standard spokesperson for von Quack in the Disney cartoons, spoke him in the short films from 1999, the New Mickey Mouse Stories , accordingly with an Austrian accent. Primus von Quack, however, did not retain his Austrian roots in the sense of a yodelling skiing scientist, but rather sayings like “This is an absolutely Capuchin catastrophe!”, “After all, I have degrees in heraldry and genealogical dendrology, that is, genealogy”, “Kiss them Hand, Frau Doktor… ”, his hedonistic love for Wiener Schnitzeln (“ Well, in the package was my body and stomach snack - Wiener Schnitzel à la Weltschmerz! ”), His impractical, quirky, balancing, mediating, but also incorruptible manner and his aristocratic origins ("von" Quack) show him as an old Austrian in a traditional jacket, based on the "Habsburg myth" of Claudio Magris or the " Theresian people" of Hugo von Hofmannsthal . According to Don Rosa's timeline, Primus von Quack was already dead in 1970, but this contradicts his comic and television appearances.

Dussel Duck

Dussel Duck (English Fethry Duck ) is a very clumsy, sometimes emotional cousin of Donald Duck and Gustav Gans. Donald usually tries to stay away from him. Dussel Duck was invented by Dick Kinney and Al Hubbard and first appeared in The Health Nut in 1964. Since then, it has mainly been used by Italian and Brazilian Disney writers, although the character has developed quite differently in Europe and Brazil (in Europe to Donald's idiot buddy, in Brazil to an independent hero). The character is not considered canonical by all draftsmen; For example, Don Rosa added him to the family tree of the Duck family - as a gesture to the European fans (as the son of Degenhard Duck's brother Teddy Duck and grandson Dorettes), but does not allow him to appear in his stories. His mother's name was Gretchen Gogel. Just as Donald wears a sailor's cap, Dussel almost always has a sleepyhead on his head. Dussel is, depending on the story and the artist, the caretaker of an apartment in the center of Duckburg, Scrooge McDuck's chauffeur and, in some American stories, a newspaper editor with Donald Duck. Especially in Italian stories, however, he changes his occupations in every new story. He gets the knowledge of his activities from correspondence courses. In stories with Hubert Bogart, he is his detective assistant. Dussel is often dressed in red, in American comics pink.

Flederduck

Flederduck ( Brasil . Morcego Vermelho ) is Dussel's superhero old ego. Whereby the "-hero" doesn't really apply here, since he usually throws the opponent to the ground by chance of his foulness. All in all, like Dussel, he is very clumsy. The figure is mainly used in Brazil , where it first appeared in 1973.

Didi Duck

In a few comics, Dussel has a 4-year-old nephew named Didi (English Dugan ), who has partly inherited the characteristics of his uncle and sometimes even drives him to despair. Possibly he is the son of Dussel's missing sister . Didi occurs relatively rarely in Germany, while it is very popular in Brazil , where it was invented by Luiz Podavin . He had his first appearance in 1992 in LTB 176.

Gyro Gearloose

Daniel Düsentrieb ( Gyro Gearloose ) mostly appears in stories with Donald and Dagobert Duck. He is an inventor by profession and invented "useful" things like the bread lubricator , the dark light , the portable hole or the telephone with a built-in iron, but can easily construct a faster than light spaceship within a week. His famous motto is “Nothing is to swear to the engineer”. He always has the right invention ready for Dagobert Duck, and if something goes wrong, his little robot helper helps him. His grandfather's name is Dankwart Düsentrieb, who worked for Dagobert Duck on his steamer from 1880 to 1883, and his father's name is Dübel Düsentrieb, who was one of the first Fieselschweiflinge and was thrown out of Fort Duckburg in 1902 by Dagobert , where the money store now stands . Daniel Düsentrieb was invented by Carl Barks in 1952.

Dieter jet drive

Sometimes, especially in one-sided, Daniel is accompanied by his similar-looking nephew Dieter (or Darius ; Newton ). Like his uncle , he is technically gifted. Dieter is also a member of the Fieselschweif flag , which is in his blood because his grandfather was one of the first Fieselschweiflinge. He first appeared in 1960 under Vic Lockman .

Della Duck

Della Duck (also: Dumbella Duck , Thelma Duck ) is Donald's sister (at Al Taliaferro Donald's cousin) and the mother of Tick, Trick and Track. In a comic strip by Taliaferro from October 17, 1937, Della sends her sons to Donald, about which she informs him in a letter. In this she describes herself as Donald's cousin. In the comic strip of November 21, 1937, Della Donald sends a telegram in which she writes that she would like her sons back, which is what happens. In another comic strip from May 1938, Della informed Donald by telephone that she would have to leave town for a while and gave her children back into his care. In the cartoon Donald's Nephews , published April 15, 1938, Donald receives a postcard from his sister announcing that Tick, Trick and Track will visit her uncle. Della is called Dumbella in this cartoon.

Della remained an "unseen character" for a long time. It was first seen in the Duck family tree of Carl Barks, which was illustrated by Mark Worden. In this she is referred to as Thelma Duck. In Don Rosa's Duck family tree (published in 1993) she is again referred to as Della and is considered Donald's sister. In the Dutch comic book 80 is prachtig (published 2014) Della is referred to as one of the first female pilots. Accordingly, she later became an astronaut. Before going into space, she left her children with Donald. It was then lost in space as a result of a failed rocket launch. Wastel Duck

Wastel Duck (English Whitewater Duck or Abner Duck ) is the older brother of Dussel and cousin of Donald as well as Franz and Gustav Gans. In most of the stories he is a raftsman or a woodcutter. According to the pedigree of Don Rosa (see Duck ), his parents are like those of Dussel Teddy Duck and Gretchen Gogel. He also seems to have a sister who was Didi's mother. It was invented by Carl Barks.

Ancestors of the Duck family

Over the past 70 years the Duck family has had a number of ancestors added by a variety of authors and draftsmen. The "official" family tree is now that of Don Rosa, although it only takes up figures from Carl Barks. The most varied of interpretations resulted in countless inconsistencies. For example, Dagobert and Dorette are shown as siblings in most of the stories, but in Rosa they come from completely different families (Dorette's family had lived in Duckburg for a long time before Dagobert even went there from Scotland ).

Rivals of Dagobert Duck

As the second richest man in the world and thus the main rival of Dagobert Duck, one of the two characters Mac Moneysac or Klaas Klever usually appears . The two usually do not appear at the same time - in stories with one, the other is usually non-existent. The only stories so far in which both appear are Club der Billionaire from 1967 and All against one (printed in German-speaking countries in the funny paperbacks of the same name 341 and 452). The latter story shows Mac Moneysac as the second richest and Klaas Klever as the third richest man in the world. After Don Rosa both exist, who is the second richest man in the world is constantly changing. Gundel Gaukeley

Moby's friends are the porpoises Tümmi (Engl. Porpy ) and the Maat Doofy Duck (Engl. Dim Witty Duck ). The latter is not the brightest and thus represents the duck version of Goofy . In older stories, Doofy often appeared with Donald as a detective .

mayor

In the role of the mayor you can see many people who are mostly represented as pigs . The most famous is probably Mayor Balduin Bleibtreu , who has firmly established himself. Since the mayor has the highest position in Duckburg , one can assume that it is a city-state . Behind the waist circumference and pig face you can see a hidden criticism of politicians, especially since Barks pigs are usually the bad guys.

In one story it turns out that Balduin Bleibtreu and Donald Duck know each other from their school days.

Peter Pig

Quacky had his first appearance in 1981 in the story " Quacky, the globetrotter ". Quacky is very good natured and cannot lie. He speaks the language of locks and can therefore pick any lock. He can also make things float through the power of thought. In one story, he loses this strength when Daisy throws a stone at his head. Quacky is always on the lookout for his lost spaceship, which is the size of a ten cruiser coin. Dolly Duck

She desperately wants to be a knight and always wears boys' clothes, although as the niece of King Dagobertur she is said to be a princess. Daisetta, Dorette, Henrietta and Gittalia therefore urge them to change as quickly as possible. Shandy Schofel

Shandy Schofel ( Soapy Slick ) is a criminal casino and steamboat owner who made life difficult for Dagobert in his youth on the Klondike. At his first appearance you learn that Schofel granted Dagobert a loan in 1898 . Dagobert paid it back, but Schofel was sure that Dagobert no longer had the receipt , which is why he was asked to find it. After Dagobert found it, Schofel threw it and its suitcase out of the window of an airplane , whereupon the receipt disappeared in the eternal ice. After the receipt was found, Schofel destroyed it, but was photographed by a pack of journalists .

His full story with Scrooge on the Klondike was later explained in His Life, His Billions by Don Rosa . Among other things, a story by Rosa was written in 1988, in which Schofel and Dagobert are currently vying for a lost Dagobert sledge, in the hope that there will be something valuable in it. The Barks creation first appeared in 1965.

Dummy Duck

Berry-B (ital. B-Berry ) is not as strong as Black-B. He allegedly stole a computer with secret data from the agency to expose Kay-K's machinations.

The top boss is subject to the strictest secrecy. Only Jay-J and Donald know what he looks like. It's actually a hologram of DoppelDuck's imaginative part of the subconscious.

Fenton crackshell / boom duck

Dietram Duck

Kat Nipp appears in only three black-and-white cartoons from 1929: The Opry House , When the Cat's Away and The Karnival Kid . For the time being, he appears for the very last time as a cartoon character in a newspaper comic from 1933. The short story is titled Mickey Mouse vs. Kat Nipp . In this story, Kat and Micky clash because the mouse is constantly roaming around the cat's property and Kat especially doesn't want Micky around him. After these comics, Kat Nipp appeared very rarely, mostly as a seedy drifter and petty crook.

Schnauz

Schnauz (English Scuttle ) is a sidekick of the tomcat Karlo and often helps him with various criminal activities. It first appeared in a story in 1951 and was penned by Paul Murry . Some stories suggest that Schnauz secretly adores Klarabella Kuh .

The black phantom

The Black Phantom (English The Phantom Blot in German also as Ink Phantom ) is an enemy of Mickey Mouse , who of course cannot win, but can usually at least escape. Under the black cloak of the phantom is the crook flat nose , as can be seen in Hunt for the "Phantom" ( Mickey Mouse Outwits the Phantom Blot , text: Merril de Maris) 1939 and in LTB No. 62. Furthermore, in a newer LTB Mickey Mouse and the Black Phantom experience a story in a kind of parallel duck house. Every citizen of Entenhausen is exactly the opposite of his normal personality. In this story, the black phantom from the parallel city of Duckburg is exposed and it is revealed that it is Goofy (a millionaire in that universe). However, the Black Phantom notes, pointing to Goofy's clumsiness, that it could hardly be Goofy. In LTB No. 239 in the story of Commissioner Issel's long night , a flat nose is stuck under his cape again. Incidentally, there you also learn that the phantom is a passionate painter .

The character was created by Floyd Gottfredson in 1939 and made her first appearance - together with Commissioner Hunter (Chief O'Hara) - on the newspaper strip Mickey Mouse and the Hunt for the Phantom (YM 039). In addition to its black cloak, the Phantom was noticeable at its premiere for its screwed-up language and the inability to see someone die, which is why it tried several times unsuccessfully to eliminate Micky with the help of sophisticated death traps instead of laying hands on him. Finally, captured and unmasked by Micky, the flat-nose figure appeared under the hood.

The phantom's motto is: "If you do something to me, be on your guard!"

Mortimer

Mortimer (also Moritz or Ratzo ; English Montmorency Rodent ) was in earlier times and is a competitor of Mickey Mouse in new productions. Usually it's about relaxing Mickey Minnie. He is a rat after Floyd Gottfredson, who also introduced him.

According to Gottfredson, he's a millionaire driver. While he is away, he uses his clothes and his car and acts as a con man.

Balduin bag cutter

Balduin Beutelschneider (formerly mistakenly Kurt Kropp ; English Sylvester Shyster ) is a criminal lawyer and partner of Kater Karlo . He was the first figure, the extra for Disney - Comics was created and was designed by Walt Disney introduced himself. His first appearance was in Mickey Mouse in Death Valley in 1930 . Until 1934 he formed a firm duo with the cat Karlo, in which he was the brain and Karlo the man for the rough. In 1941 he disappeared from the comic strips. It was not picked up again in Italy until 1961. He experienced a revival in the 90s and has performed more often since then. Dr. Krantz

Dr. Krantz (Italian: Kranz ) is Indiana Goof's opponent and like him an archaeologist, a little glasses wearer, hair color depending on the comic going from blonde to red, brown to white. He often uses criminal methods to achieve his goal, which is why he is constantly at odds with Indiana Goof and usually loses out.

Krantz is a master of disguise and often accompanies Indianas, e.g. B. Mickey Mouse. Krantz and Indiana used to be colleagues until the former let themselves be led astray by greed for profit.

jade

Jade (Italian: Giada ) is Indiana Goof's great love . Nothing would stand in the way of a wedding except the fact that Jade is actually a fairy . And they are prohibited from marrying. Under these circumstances, both must constantly separate, as fairies are only allowed to stay on earth for a certain time . As a fairy you also have the ability to live longer than humans, which is why Jade is over 400 years old. She made her debut in 1995 under Bruno Sarda and Roberto Vian .

Dwarf plum

Dwarf plum (Engl. Idgit The Midgit ) is a crook from Duckburg . He is not particularly tall, has bushy eyebrows and a dark fringe of hair. He always wears a black bowler hat. His accomplices are often the tomcat Karlo , Schnauz or the dangerous Gregor.

The dangerous Gregor

The Dangerous Gregor (or The Grim Gregor ; English Dangerous Dan McBoo ) is a criminal. He mostly works with dwarf plum. Its large, twisted schnauzer is striking . Gregor likes the color pink. When he works with Zwerg Zwetschge, he is usually the "tough guy".

Wombat

When Uncle Wombat (Engl. Uncle Wombat ) is an uncle Goofy, focused on inventing strange equipment. He believes himself to be a genius, although there is usually something wrong with his inventions. This is how it went with his first appearance, where he accidentally sends Micky through time. Apparently the character was so distinctive that after making several appearances in American comics during the 50s, it was also established in Italy. The weird inventor was first used in 1951 under Floyd Gottfredson and Bill Walsh .

Rudi Rohrbruch

Rudi Rohrbruch (English Joe Piper ) is a criminal plumber and leader of the plumber gang. He had his first appearance in 1938 with Floyd Gottfredson. Mickey Mouse and Inspector Issel want to prove Rohrbruch's guilt by smuggling Micky in as an intern. Over time, the broken pipe has forgiven Micky. Rudi's biggest opponent in the plumbing business is the grim Ebenezer Higglesby . Meanwhile, Rohrbruch is no longer really known in Germany , while it still performs in Italy. Rohrbruch has received many translations over time: Beppo Rohr , Nikodemus Nippel (LTB 16), Elektro-Egon (LTB 84), Schnucki Schieber (Mickyvision 02/1975), Rudolph Rohrmeier (LTB 63), Theo Tropfhahn (DD 353) and Josef Gulli (DD 4).

Captain Orang

Captain Orang (also Admiral X ; English Doctor Vulter ) is an intelligent villain. He is a pirate captain and scientist , alluded to Jules Verne's captain Nemo . With a huge ship he steals other boats in order to rule the world. His ship emits magnetic rays that he uses as a magnet . He keeps all his plans in mind and does not write them down. His originally German name, uniform and monocle as well as the pursuit of world domination make him an image of the Nazis of that time . He first appeared in Mickey Mouse and the Pirate Submarine in 1935 under Floyd Gottfredson.

Professors Ecks, Duplex and Triplex

The professors Ecks, duplex and triplex (Engl. Professor Eck, Douplex and Triplex ) are a trio of criminals. The brothers were only used once by Gottfredson at Blaggard Castle , but were distinctive enough to be picked up again later by European authors. In the 90s, Ecks and Duplex were featured as a two-headed monster in Mickey Mouse Adventures named Dr. Doublecross shown. One story explains that Ecks and Duplex were hypnotized, got good, and helped Micky with inventions until Mack and Muck pelted them with water bombs at a picnic and the hypnosis was lifted.

Superjux

Schorschi Schabernack , better known as Superjux (Italian Vito Doppioscherzo ) is a villain who deceitfully leads people with the help of joke articles. He used to be Mickey's schoolmate , but was kicked out of school because of his bad jokes and pranks and swore revenge . He made his first appearance in 2004 under the popular Mickey Mouse author and illustrator Casty .

Hicksi

Hicksi (full name Walburga Hicksomera ; English Witch Hazel ) is a particularly lovable and good-natured witch. With her character, she is actually a counterpart to Gundel Gaukeley. She constantly tries to convince Goofy that she is indeed a witch, so far without success, as Goofy does not believe in witches and sorcery (but only in stories with Hicksi). As one learns in the Donald Duck notebooks, she has made a name for herself in witch circles for being able to convince “mortals” of magic, which is why she often describes Goofy as her “only failure”. Since she has no bad intentions, she often clashes with her "head witch". In LTB 11 you learn that she is an enthusiastic participant in the “Witches' Sabbath”, a kind of Walpurgis Night that is held on the moon. In English it is called Witch Hazel or Hazel the Witch .

Beelzebub

Beelzebub (also Urian ) is Hicksi's broom. He leads a life of his own and helps or annoys Hicksi. Beelzebub lacks the ability to speak. He made his first appearance in LTB 11.

Captain Kirchmaus

Captain Nathaniel Kirchmaus (English Captain Churchmouse ) is a friend of Mickey Mouse . He is the image of a typical sailor, with a pipe and a blue and white uniform. He has a wife named Frauenkirch mouse (Engl. Mrs. Church Mouse ) and a monkey named Bombo (Engl. Bombo The Gorilla ). His first appearance was in Mickey Mouse Sails for Treasure .

Schorschel Schräuble

Schorschel Schräuble (also Köppke ; Gloomy the Mechanic ) is a mechanic and friend of Mickey Mouse. His first appearance was in 1932 in The Mail Pilot , in which he was hired as an aircraft repairer. Here he also teaches Mickey how to fly, the dangers involved and how an airplane is assembled. Schorschel's character is the opposite of Mickey. While the latter is adventurous, Schorschel is very pessimistic about adventure. In 1935 he played a more active role in Mickey and the Pirate Submarine . He's building a mixture of a boat and an airplane called a submarplane for Micky . He may not be the most exciting character, but he is still popular with Mickey fans because he has starred in the best stories. Schorschel was created by Floyd Gottfredson.

Captain Doberman

Käpt'n Doberman (English Captain or Colonel Doberman ) is a captain of the Air Force . He made his first appearance, like Schorschel, in The Mail Pilot under Floyd Gottfredson. There he trains Mickey to fly. After Micky found out the reason for the disappearance of the planes and the cat Karlo and Balduin Beutelschneider were arrested, he was appointed head of the secret service. When Käpt'n Kirchmaus and Micky are captured by the cat Karlo and Balduin Beutelschneider on their ship, Dobermann builds an airship for them, with which they ultimately escape. He is also involved in the construction of Schorschel's Submarplane . Dobermann was the one who introduced Mickey and Professor Wunderlich to each other. Since Mickey Mouse: The Ghost Town Airport he has been referred to as a Colonel and becomes the director of the secret service.

Maxi Smart

Maxi Smart is the name of two different birds in German. The older is called in the English original Ellsworth and appeared for the first time in 1949 on a newspaper strip by Bill Walsh and Manuel Gonzales . In German he was sometimes called Moses (as in LTB 178). The younger bird is called in the Italian original Bruto (also: Gancetto ), is the adopted son of the older one and first appeared in 1975 in the story Smart and Son of Romano Scarpa . In LTB 130 and 534 he is called Bruno .

Betty

Aunt Betty ( Aunt Tessie ) is Goofy's aunt , who was introduced in 1976 by Ed Nofziger and Owen Fitzgerald . It is very close to the Goofs family tradition: it is the most overwhelming of them all. Betty is considered optimistic, extravagant and unpredictable. These properties are so extreme that even Goofy thinks they're crazy. She actually lives outside of Duckburg and comes to visit Goofy every now and then with the help of a tuned scooter.

Peter and Paul

Peter and Paul (ital. Pierino and Pieretto ) are the naughty nephews of Karlos with criminal ulterior motives. This inherited character trait was already seen at their first appearance in 1991: there Karlo cannot take care of them because of a visit behind bars, which is why they are exposed to Micky, who then has to deal with the pests. The two were created by Carlo Panaro and Corrado Mastantuono .

Maximilian Mouse

Uncle Maximilian (ital. Zio Jeremy ) is Mickey's uncle, but he is controlled by criminal thoughts, which is why Micky tries to move him to the side of law and order. He lives with his boat and parrot in Entenhausen Harbor , where he prefers to live off dishonest business. So there are always arguments between him and his nephew.

Maximilian is (probably) Linda's brother . Overall, he is the “gray” sheep of the family, as he is the only one who lives from dirty business. But despite all the difficulties of the two, Maximilian and Micky love each other anyway and he would risk everything if his nephew was in danger.

The poetic spy

The poetic spy (English. The Rhyming Man ) is a spy and opponent of Mickey, who only converses in rhymes . This gimmick is a nod to the typical foreign James Bond villains, who mostly speak in an absurd accent . It was invented by Floyd Gottfredson, but then had appearances in Italy, a. a. at Casty .

Zenobia

Zenobia II. (Ital. Also Zenobia ) is an African queen and lover of Goofy. She had her first appearance in 1983 under Romano Scarpa . Here she tries dishonest methods to make Goofy her husband. Mickey and Maxi can then thwart their plan. In a story from 1984 she leaves the throne and hangs the crown on the nail in order to Entenhausen draw. There she is kidnapped by the cat Karlo , Trudi and Kralle. Ultimately, she is saved by Micky, Goofy and Maxi. In 1985 she tried her hand at acting in a Shakespeare play . In another story, Zenobia has a girlfriend in Paris . In 2013 it was used again after a long time by Enrico Faccini .

Patrizia and Percy

The friend Minnies and her lover, Patrizia and Percy (English Patricia and Percy Pigg ) fell into oblivion over time, but were there from the start: Floyd Gottfredson Patrizia used it as early as 1930 (and Percy a year later) first time. Ultimately, however, she takes on more or less the same role as Klarabella . Percy is far more unknown. So he is actually only used as a background figure. In short, both are actually just "phantom characters" with no real story or character.

Iota

Jota (Italian: Zombi Baturzo ) is an alien friend of Mickey, who was created by Luciano Gatto and Guido Martina . It can become invisible , emit infrared rays, and recognize fingerprints by nibbling on the object. Iota can live on iron alone . His head resembles an anvil and he wears tights . He made his first appearance in 1977.

Samuel cobweb

Samuel cobwebs (ital. Nataniele Ragnatele ) is a Duckburg Antiquat and historians , the Mickey and Atömchen helps frequently on their adventures. He usually wears glasses that are so thick that you can't even see his eyes . The cobweb was invented by Romano Scarpa in 1959 .

March hare

The March Hare (ital. Pacuvio ) is a rabbit that accompanies Micky and Goofy into surreal worlds. He has a magic brush that gives him this property. So he draws the desired, imaginative landscape in one place (e.g. the street or a wall) and then simply jumps into it. He is one of the few characters who can break the fourth wall . He and Goofy are good friends, while Micky still struggles to believe in his existence. Märzhase performed for the first time under Luciano Gatto and Fabio Michelini .

Grooby

Grooby (Italian Pappo ) is Goofy's brother, created by Romano Scarpa. It can even be assumed that these are twins, since Grooby's first appearance shows a picture from the childhood of the two, on which the two cannot be distinguished.

Grooby left Duckburg without notice and retired to Kenya . The whole thing only because he doesn't like coconuts and there are plenty of them in his hometown. With that tribe of natives, with whom he arrived at that time, he was regarded as powerful and made their ruler. But contrary to the expectations of Goofy and Mickey, he does not live in that tribe in a typical hut, but in a villa with a cinema, refrigerators and luxury cars corresponding to the western lifestyle. He receives this standard of living through trade with the USA by offering his trading partners rare minerals located around the area of the tribe in exchange for any luxury goods. Despite the prosperity, he occasionally retreats to a cave in the jungle, where he and monkeys lead the life of a primate. But if he is fed up with this life of deprivation, he usually simply returns to his villa. He also walks around in a loincloth all the time and is otherwise completely naked.

The first and only time he appeared on LTB 74 in a story from 1957. Contrary to the original version, it is claimed there that Grooby is Goofy's cousin and not his brother.

Toby Tortoise

Tobias the turtle appears in the Ward Kimball films The Tortoise and the Hare (1935) and Toby Tortoise Returns (1936). The British Disney illustrator Wilfried Haughton drew, among other things, stories in which Toby shares a detective agency with Goofy.

Duckburg Forest

Whether the forest in which the Wolf family and the little pigs live really belongs to Duckburg is controversial. For the sake of completeness, the figures are mentioned here.

The three Little Pigs

The three little pigs (English. Three Little Pigs ) came back and again in the early numbers of the LTBs and Mickey Mouse magazine before. Two pigs, Fiddler and Pfeiffer (English Fiddler and Piper ) wear sailor suits, the third, Schweinchen Schlau (English The Practical Pig ), a boiler suit and a blue cap. They are hunted by Ede Wolf, but every attempt to eat the little pigs fails because his son Little Wolf supports the pigs and always warns them about his father.

Ede Wolf

Ede Wolf ( Zeke Wolf or The Big Bad Wolf ) used to appear in both Mickey Mouse magazine and LTBs, but has been used rarely since the mid-1990s. In most of the stories he is on the hunt for the three little pigs, in a few other stories he tries other minor rip-offs or tries to raise his son Little Wolf to be a bad wolf. All of his attempts end in a fiasco and Ede is usually more or less violently injured, often by Godfather Bear. Because his son warns the pigs about him or frees them after his father has successfully caught them. This is based on the story The Three Little Pigs .

Little Wolf

Little Wolf (English Li'l Bad Wolf , in Great Britain Li'l Wolf ) is the son of Ede Wolf and the best friend of the three little pigs. He warns them every time before his father tries to eat them; therefore, in the versions of Fuchs , he is often referred to by his father as "virtuoso". Since they are always warned in good time, his father never succeeds in catching them; rather, he often returns home from an unsuccessful hunt with an injury. A modernized version of the little wolf was then used in the early 1990s. Unlike in the past, he doesn't wear dungarees and a hat, but jeans, sneakers and a T-shirt.

Godfather bear

Godfather Bear is a big bear with brown fur. He wears a hat and usually has a heavy club with him. His character is very different in the stories. Sometimes he is described as good-natured, sometimes as a ruthless hunter. He is friends with Gevatter Fuchs and mostly Ede Wolf is his beating victim, but now and then also Gevatter Fuchs. He is also the owner of a small general store.

Godfather Fox

Gevatter Fuchs is a fox who is friends with both Ede Wolf and Gevatter Bär. Like Ede Wolf, he is a member of the Bad Boys Club. Together with Gevatter Bär he hunts Hansi Hase.

Indians

In addition, an Indian tribe lives in the forest by a lake.

Klein Adlerauge (English Little Hiawatha ) is an Indian boy and son of the chief Groß-Adlerauge . Furthermore there is his sister Silver Snake , who is also part of the tribe.

All of the characters appeared almost exclusively in the first issues of Mickey Mouse . At that time they spoke with a screwed-up, clichéd accent, from which a relatively poor grammar emerged : " Silver snakes go to the lake, catch fish ".

Naming of the figures

The first letters of the first and last names (if any) of most of the characters who are closely related to Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck are identical. B .: M icky M aus, D onald D uck, G ustav G ans, G undel G aukeley, Z acharias Z orngiebel, D aniel D üsentrieb, K arl K atermann or K ater K arlo etc.

By means of these alliterations ( alliterations ) a better memorization of the figures is effected. The surnames usually denote the genus of the animal figures or their special characteristics.
