coat of arms
Silver wave on a sky-blue background, gold-crowned eagle; at the top there is a gold lion swinging curved sword on green against the sun.
The coat of arms that has been used since 1925. refers to two heads of state who were important for the spa: the eagle is borrowed from the Polish coat of arms of Stanislaus I. Leszczyński , who was temporarily King of Poland , then Duke of Lorraine and Bar and who was particularly interested in the medicinal springs of Contrexéville.
The representation of the lion is taken from the old Persian flag. Shah Mozaffar ed-Din visited the place in 1900, 1902 and 1905 for spa stays. The silver wave between the two images symbolizes the importance of water for the health resort.
