The three- cushion world cup 2013/4 was the fourth UMB / CPB world cup tournament in the 27th year of the three-cushion world cup. It took place from November 4th to 9th, 2013 in Medellín , Colombia . For the first time since the three-cushion World Cup 2001/1 in Bogotá , another tournament was held in Colombia. The last World Cup on the American continent was held in Mexico City in 2007 . It was the fourth World Cup tournament in Colombia.
Due to the fact that many European and Asian top players were not at the start in Medellín with Alejandro Piza, the third of the Junior World Cup 2011 in Guatemala, and Arley Galeano two Colombians from the first qualifying round to the main draw. In the first round of the knockout phase there was only one big surprise with Carloman Catoano's win against seeded Murat Naci Çoklu . In the second round, the last players were eliminated for the host country. Eddy Leppens , who had already played a strong qualification, continued his winning streak with victories against Eddy Merckx and Jérémy Bury and made it to the semi-finals deservedly. Here he had to give in to his compatriot Frédéric Caudron and finished third together with Filipos Kasidokostas . Kasidokostas lost in the semifinals after a 34:20 lead to a never-giving Torbjörn Blomdahl 39:40. The two world-ranking leaders Blomdahl and Caudron met in the final. Here Blomdahl had no chance and lost with 27:40 after his hard-fought victory against Kasidokostas.
A lot has changed in the tournament mode since 2013.
The sentence system was abolished because the dullness was not calculable. Matches could last between three and five sets. Good timing was therefore not possible.
The game distances were set at 30 points in the per-qualification rounds and 40 points in the main qualification and in the knockout games. A tie is possible in the qualifying rounds. In the knockout round, overtime is played in the event of a tie. Each of the two players starts with the initial push. Whoever scores more points wins the match. If there is also a tie in extra time, the kick starts again until a winner is determined.
There are only two wildcards for the organizer and one each for three of the four associations CPB , ACBC , CEB and ACC in which the World Cup does not take place.
Four qualifying rounds are played. From the last qualifying round, the 12 group winners and the four best runners-up qualify for the final round. The main tournament is played with 32 participants.
In the event of a tie, the following order will be applied:
The first 12 players in the world rankings and the wildcard players automatically took part as players in the tournament in the knockout round. The first four of the world rankings are placed in positions 1, 16, 8 and 9.

For the sake of clarity, qualification rounds 1, 2 and 3 are not shown. These can be looked up under the links at the UMB . In the last (4th) qualifying round, up to 40 points are played in groups A – L with 3 players each. The top four and the four best runners-up go to the final round of the best 32. In the event of a tie, the better GD applies .
With Daniel Sánchez's cancellation at short notice, a fifth group runner-up qualified for the knockout round.
The three-cushion World Cup was organized by the founding association, the " Billiards Worldcup Association " (BWA) until 1998 . Disputes between the BWA and the world association Union Mondiale de Billard (UMB) led to parallel tournaments between 1994 and 1997. The UMB / BWA organized the tournament together until the beginning of 1999. Since the dissolution of the BWA in 1999, the UMB has been the sole organizer. From 1988-1991 the UMB did not host any world championships. During this time, the annual overall winner of the World Cup was crowned world champion.
