Steinbergkirche ( Danish : Stenbjergkirke ) is a municipality in the Schleswig-Flensburg district in Schleswig-Holstein . It is the administrative seat of the office of Geltinger Bucht .

Steinbergkirche is located in the Fishing Region . About four kilometers northeast of Steinbergkirche is the Geltinger Bucht , which gives its name to the Geltinger Bucht, whose official seat is the Steinbergkirche.

history

The settlement of Bredegatt goes back to the church mentioned in the 12th century. The community was originally called Bredegatt (Bredegade) and was renamed Steinbergkirche in 1963 .

In 1970 the previously independent municipalities of Gintoft, Hattlund and Westerholm were incorporated and on March 1, 2013 the municipality of Quern (including the town of Neukirchen).

In 2017 the Gintoft forest was cut down. Citizens' protests for the preservation of the forest could not prevail.

Community representation

From the merger with Quern to the establishment of the municipal council elected in the 2013 local elections, a commissioner appointed by the local supervisory authority performed the duties of the municipal council and the mayor. After the municipal elections in 2013, the municipal council consisted of 17 municipal representatives, ten of them from the WSQ electoral community , five from the SPD and two from the SSW .

From 1981 until February 28, 2013, the parish of Steinbergkirche had a coat of arms with the following blazon: “In blue, a lowered silver tray. Above it a waning golden moon and a golden star next to each other. ”
The central figure of this coat of arms is the St. Andrew's cross, which primarily marks the intersection of Landstrasse 248 and Bundesstrasse 199 in the Bredegatt district. In addition, the cross indicates the church. The moon and star are the seals of the historic Nieharde , to which Steinberg Church belongs. The colors gold and blue are those of the Duchy of Schleswig .

There are several service and craft businesses in the Steinbergkirche district. With the retail complex, Steinbergkirche represents a rural central location.

The former railway connection with the Flensburg circular railway has given way to the expansion of the road network. The place forms a regional traffic junction in the north-south connection to the B 199 (Flensburg - Kappeln) and to the west via the L 22 and the L 292 to the federal motorway 7 .

Schools and kindergartens

In Steinbergkirche there is the Steinbergkirche elementary school and kindergartens. Additional schools exist in the area of ​​the Geltinger Bucht office, supplemented by several secondary schools in Flensburg and Kappeln .

In the district of Hattlund there is also a Danish kindergarten and a Danish elementary school (Hatlund-Langballe Danske Skole) for members of the Danish minority .

The Reformation brought about a change from the Catholic faith to the then new Evangelical Lutheran Church . The local field stone church St. Martin belongs to the Evangelical Lutheran Church.
