List of bus accidents

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A bus accident is an accident in which at least one bus is involved.

Crimes and acts of terrorism such as the bus attack at Ballygawley in 1988 or the bus attack on the M62 are not included . Relatively many of these accidents are also railway accidents , for example because railway gates were opened too early.

For the sake of completeness, accidents involving (converted) road vehicles that were used to transport a large number of people are also listed. This concerns, for example, the accident in Chualar , California, in 1963 and the stretched limousine that crashed in New York state in October 2018.

Although the view of the railway line was clear of obstacles, the driver did not recognize the train; as a diabetic , his field of vision was restricted and his passenger obscured his view. The fuel tank of one bus was destroyed, the gasoline spilled onto the street and ignited. While many people were able to escape from the bus in front, the doors of the second bus were blocked by cars involved in an accident. As a result of the accident, a maximum speed of 110 km / h still applies on French motorways in rainy weather, and the structural regulations for buses have also been improved (safety glass, non-combustible materials).
