Borussia Dortmund season balance sheets
The season balances of Borussia Dortmund show for each season of the first football team of Borussia Dortmund placement, goal difference and the number of points scored in the league. In addition, the performance in national and international competitions and, if known, the best goalscorer of the respective season are named.
The Borussia Dortmund club was founded on December 19, 1909. At the national level there are eight German championships and four cup wins to be booked. Internationally, the club won the Champions League , the European Cup Winners' Cup and the World Cup .
Legend
- Season : states the respective season.
- League : gives the name of the league.
- Place : states the position in the table for the respective season. Placements on a green background indicate an ascent, while a red background indicates a descent.
- S , U and N : Name the number of wins, draws and defeats.
- Goals : states the number of goals scored and conceded.
- Points : states the number of points scored.
- Cup : Name the round reached in the Tschammer or DFB Cup . The abbreviation na stands for not played , the abbreviation nq stands for not qualified .
- West German Cup : Mention the performance in the West German Cup played from 1949 to 1974 .
- Supercup / League Cup : Names the performance in the DFB / DFL Supercup or DFB / DFL League Cup
- Average attendance : States the average attendance achieved during the season.
- German Championship : Name the performance in the final round of the German Championship.

- EdL for European Champion Clubs' Cup
- EdP for European Cup Winners' Cup
- UC for UEFA Cup
- CL for UEFA Champions League
- EL for UEFA Europa League
- Other : Mention the performance in the UEFA Super Cup or the World Cup .
- Top scorer : names the player or players who have scored the most goals in league matches. If the player's name is written in bold , he became the league's top scorer .
