Schönfeld is a municipality in the north of the Mecklenburg Lake District . The community is south of Demmin. It belongs to the Demmin-Land office , which has its administrative seat in Demmin . Until July 1, 2004 Schönfeld belonged to the Borrentin office .

Geography and traffic

Schönfeld is about twelve kilometers south of Demmin and 16 km north of Stavenhagen , a little northeast of the Kummerower See . The B 194 runs east of the community. The Peene flows through the north of the municipality .

The place Schönfeld was first mentioned in a document in 1255.

Until 1945 it belonged to Western Pomerania .

Community representation

The community council consists of seven people, including the mayor Else Dürr. Like four other municipal councils, it belongs to the “Independent Voting Community” list, two others are individual applicants.

The municipality has no officially approved national emblem, neither a coat of arms nor a flag . The official seal is the small state seal with the coat of arms of the region of Western Pomerania . It shows an upright griffin with a raised tail and the inscription "GEMEINDE SCHÖNFELD * LANDKREIS MECKLENBURGISCHE SEENPLATTE".

Culture

Small club cinema run by the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Film Communication Association with regular cinema programs .

• The Schönfeld village church was built from bricks around 1400 . It has a choir closed on three sides and a nave that was built a few years later. Inside there is a pulpit from the 17th century.
