Silz is a municipality in the west of the Mecklenburg Lake District in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Germany). The municipality is administered by the Malchow office based in the city of the same name .
geography
The community of Silz north of Malchow and in the middle of the Mecklenburg Lake District lies between the Fleesensee and the Drewitzer See . The northern part of the municipality is located in the Nossentiner / Schwinzer Heide nature reserve . The area around Silz is slightly hilly, the Hohe Berg reaches 84 m above sea level. NN, while the level of the Fleesensee at 62 m above sea level. NN lies. The Elde flows through the Fleesensee from the Kölpinsee .
Silz is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Nossentiner Hütte in the west and north, Jabel in the east, Göhren-Lebbin in the southeast and Malchow in the south.

Coat of arms, flag, official seal
The municipality has no officially approved national emblem, neither a coat of arms nor a flag. The official seal is the small state seal with the coat of arms of the state of Mecklenburg. It shows a looking bull's head with torn off neck fur and crown and the inscription "GEMEINDE SILZ".
economy
In addition to agriculture and forestry, tourism plays an important role in Silz and the surrounding area. A bungalow settlement and a camping site are located near the beaches of the almost 11 km² Fleesensee.
Attractions
- Two-storey, clinkered manor house Nossentin with park.
- Classicist village church Nossentin from 1838 as a simple half-timbered building with a brick facade and hipped roof with ridge turret . The belfry is next to it. During the GDR era, the church was dilapidated and abandoned. From 2001 the church was rebuilt, from 2003 a corresponding association was active, donations were collected, construction site services were held. In 2008 a new bell, cast in Passau , was added, the free-standing bell cage of which was built in 2004. The dedication service could take place at the end of 2009.
- On the road to Waren, near Nossentin, there is the York-Blücher monument with the following inscription: "In memory of the Prussian warriors who fell here on November 1st, 1806 / The Mecklenburg Officer Corps 1856". The back shows a plaque with the inscription around an iron cross: "Honor those who are not afraid even in adversity". In the battles against the Bernadotte units, Colonel Yorck covered Blücher's retreat after the battle of Jena and Auerstedt . The stolen relief panels and the eagle were renewed in 2000.

Transport links
Silz is on the connection road from Malchow to Waren (Müritz) , which leads north around the large lakes (Fleesensee and Kölpinsee). In the north there is a road connection to Teterow , it forms part of the Deutsche Alleenstraße . The Malchow motorway junction is around eight kilometers away. The Nossentin train stop is on the Mecklenburg Southern Railway from Waren (Müritz) via Malchow and Lübz to Parchim .
