The Football League Championship 2012/13 was the ninth season of the English Football League Championship and at the same time the 21st season of the top division of the Football League - after the introduction of the Premier League - as only the second highest English league. The season began on August 17, 2012 with the opening game between Cardiff City and Huddersfield Town (final score: 1-0), the last matchday took place on May 4, 2013. As a climber came Charlton Athletic , Sheffield Wednesday and Huddersfield Town to do so. Relegated from the Premier League last year were Bolton Wanderers , Blackburn Rovers and Wolverhampton Wanderers , who complete the field of 24 teams.
