James Gordon (born October 31, 1739 in Killead , Ireland , † January 17, 1810 in Ballston Spa , New York ) was an Irish- American officer and politician . Between 1791 and 1795 he represented the state of New York in the US House of Representatives .

Life

James Gordon was born during the reign of King George II . He attended the local schools. In 1758 he immigrated to the British colonies in North America (now the United States) and settled in Schenectady (New York), where he traded with the Indians . During the Revolutionary War, he served as a Lieutenant Colonel in the militia regiment of Albany County . He was captured and captured in Canada . He later returned to Albany . He was a member of the New York State Assembly from 1777 to 1780 and from 1786 to 1790 . Then he moved to Ballston Spa.

Politically, he belonged to the pro-administration group .
