Lagrange ( Occitan : Era Granja ) is a French commune with 227 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Hautes-Pyrénées department in the Occitania region ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Bagnères-de-Bigorre . The inhabitants are called Lagrangeois / Lagrangeoises .
geography
Lagrange is located around 25 kilometers southeast of the city of Tarbes in the east of the Hautes-Pyrénées department. The municipality consists of the hamlets of Les Escalès and Les Prats de la Lanne and numerous scattered settlements. Lagrange is located on the Lannemezan plateau . The Baïsole crosses the municipality in a northerly direction and partially forms the eastern municipal boundary. The Baïse forms in parts a natural western municipal boundary. In terms of traffic, the community is located on the D517. The A64 passes a few kilometers south of the community.
Lagrange is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Houeydets in the north, Campistrous in the east, Capvern in the south and southwest and Lutilhous in the west.
history
The municipality is mentioned for the first time as Lucualu in Bigorre's tax register (tithe register) from 1429 . In the Middle Ages, the place was within the Nébouzan region, which in turn was part of the Gascogne province. The municipality belonged to the District of Bagnères from 1793 to 1801. In addition, Lagrange was within the canton of Lannemezan from 1793 to 2015 . The municipality has been part of the Bagnères-de-Bigorre arrondissement since 1801.
