Olympic Summer Games 2008 / Participant (Serbia)
- | 1 | 2 |
Serbia took partin the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing with 91 athletes . This was the first independent Serbian participation in 96 years. In the intervening period, Serbia appeared as part of Yugoslavia (1920–1988 and 1996–2000), the independent Olympic participants (1992), and Serbia and Montenegro (2004). Since none of the Serbian participants could reach the podium in 1912, the three medals won were the first that Serbia won alone.
The flag bearer for the opening ceremony was the successful marksman Jasna Šekarić , and the volleyball player Saša Starović carried the flag for the closing ceremony .
