history
On January 1, 1951, the previously independent communities Schwandt and Tarnow were incorporated.
Rosenow: The place was first mentioned in 1283. The ending -ow indicates an earlier Slavic settlement; the name could from the old Slavic ruža , Rosenort or place of Rozena be derived. In 1292, Prince Nikolaus von Werle enfeoffed the knight Heinrich Voss for services rendered with the village of Rosenow for permanent possession. The church dates from 1753 with remains from the 13th century.
The place was completely changed by extensive new buildings in the 1930s and 1960s. Older buildings of the former estate village are the church, which was built from 1849 to 1851, and some older cottages and farms. Friedrich Wilhelm Martin Wüstney was tenant of the estate from 1877 to 1889 and then manager of the estate until 1899.
Luplow was first mentioned in a document in 1283. In 1292, Prince Nikolaus von Werle enfeoffed the knight Heinrich Voss for services rendered with the village of Luplow for permanent possession. The estate in Luplow remained in the possession of the von Voss family without interruption until it was expropriated in 1945 . Luplow owns a tower hill from the Middle Ages .
Schwandt was first mentioned in a document in 1273 and was devastated during the Thirty Years' War. It was uninhabited for a long time. Later it developed into a manor village near the Schwandter See. Landowners were u. a. the families von Voss (until 1752) and Otto Graf von Schlieffen (around 1887/97 †). The village church dates from the middle of the 18th century.
Tarnow was mentioned in 1273 by its first church. In the Thirty Years War the village was destroyed and was a desert . In 1703 34 confessors were counted. Landowners were u. a. the Dargatz families (13th century), von Maltzan (14th – 17th century), von Barner (from 1672); thereafter frequent changes of ownership and the von Wendenburg family (from 1896). The manor house no longer stands. The half-timbered church dates from the 18th century.
Vossfeld and Karlshof were originally outworks for the neighboring Luplow estate. The place name Vossfeld is derived from the former owners, the Voß family.

Reasons for the coat of arms: The fox stands for knight Voss von Wolde, who received ownership rights over Rosenow and Luplow from Prince Nikolaus II von Werle in 1292. More recent history provides a second reason for the fox as a figure in the coat of arms of Rosenow. In 1928, the landlord Karl von Blücher founded a breeding facility for silver foxes, which existed in Rosenow until the end of the war in 1945. The name of the Rosenower inn "Zum Silberfuchs" , which in its best times was known far beyond the borders of the municipality, still bears witness to this today . The bull's head is the heraldic animal of the Werle rule, to which Rosenow belonged in 1283, when it was first mentioned in a document. The Werler bull's head marks the oldest historical emblem that can be assigned to Rosenow. The roses are a "talking" sign in the coat of arms, they symbolize the community and place names, which can be interpreted as "Rosenort" or "Rosenaue" . The number of roses also provides information about the districts that make up the municipality using a number symbolism. |
