Bulan is a French commune with 61 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Hautes-Pyrénées department in the Occitanie region (before 2016: Midi-Pyrénées ). The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Bagnères-de-Bigorre and the canton of La Vallée de l'Arros et des Baïses (until 2015: canton of La Barthe-de-Neste ).

The inhabitants are called Bulanais and Bulanaises .

Bulan is located about eleven kilometers east-southeast of Bagnères-de-Bigorre in the historic vice-county of Nébouzan .

Population development

After records began, the number of inhabitants rose to a high of around 505 by the second half of the 19th century. In the period that followed, the size of the community fell to this day with short recovery phases.
