Caumont ( Gaskognisch : same name) is a French commune with 102 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Gers department in the Occitanie region ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Mirande .
geography
Caumont is located around 13 kilometers east of the small town of Aire-sur-l'Adour in the west of the Gers department. It belongs to the Côtes de Saint-Mont wine region . The most important bodies of water are the La Prune , Le Jarras and Pesqué streams , as well as numerous reservoirs and small ponds. The most important supra-regional transport connection is the A65 autoroute (part of Europastraße 7 ), a few kilometers west of the municipality . Saint-Germé is the nearest bus stop (bus route 940 Mont-de-Marsan - Aire-sur-l'Adour - Tarbes).
Caumont is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Griède in the north, Saint-Martin-d'Armagnac in the northeast, Maulichères in the east, Tarsac in the southeast and south, Saint-Germé in the southwest and Lelin-Lapujolle in the northwest.
history
The municipality is historically located within Gascony and belongs to the Bas-Armagnac region . From 1793 to 1801 Caumont was part of the Nogaro district, from 1793 to 1801 and from 1802 to 2015 it was part of the Riscle canton . From 1801 to 1802 it was assigned to the canton of Barcelonne.
