In this it was only exciting after the first set, which the Belgian qualifier Peter de Backer could win. After that, Sanchez had the game under control and won with 3-1 sets. This increased his lead over the last World Cup in Istanbul in the overall World Cup to 58 points. The only one who could wrest the title from him was the Dutchman Dick Jaspers .
