The Société Manufacturière d'Armes et de Cycles was a French company.

Company history

The company was founded in the 19th century to manufacture weapons . Its original name was Manufacture d'armes de Saint-Étienne and its location was on Rue Tréfilerie in Saint-Étienne . In 1904 the production of automobiles began. The brand name was Société Manufacturière d'Armes . Automobile production ended in the same year. An affiliated company was the SA des Constructions Mécaniques de la Loire , which marketed bicycles , motorcycles and automobiles as Automoto and Svelte .

Automobiles

As far as is known, only one model was created. This was the 24/30 CV . For driving a saw four-cylinder engine of Aster with 4849 cc displacement . The engine was mounted in the front of the vehicle and powered the rear axle via a cardan shaft . The transmission had four gears.

One vehicle still exists. The landaulet body was made by Cesare Sala , with some evidence that the body was previously mounted on a Serpollet Italiana . This vehicle sold for £ 126,500 in 2009 . It is occasionally used at the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run in England .
