The Scottish FA Cup was played for the 129th time in 2013/14 . The main Scottish football cup competition, officially held as the William Hill Scottish Cup and run by the Scottish Football Association, began on September 14, 2013 and ended with the final on May 17, 2014 in Glasgow's Celtic Park . The last time a Scottish Cup final was played was in 1998 at Celtic Park . Defending champion was Celtic Glasgow , who prevailed against Hibernian Edinburgh in the previous year's final . In this year's competition, the team was eliminated in the round of 16 against FC Aberdeen . The cup winner was eligible to compete in the second qualifying round of the 2014/15 UEFA Europa League . The clubs of the Scottish Premiership entered the 4th round of the competition. With a 2-0 final win over Dundee United , St. Johnstone FC won the Cup in Scotland for the first time 130 years after the club was founded.
