The three- cushion world cup 2005/3 was the third UMB / CEB world cup tournament in the 19th year of the three-cushion world cup. The tournament took place from October 18 to 23, 2005 in this discipline of carom billiards in Barendrecht . It was the third three-cushion World Cup tournament in Barendrecht.
history
After Hurghada there was another surprise in Barendrecht by a qualifier. Frédéric Caudron, who returned to the finals, was defeated by his compatriot Eddy Merckx with 1: 3 sets. Merckx was also the best player in the tournament and played the best general average (GD) and the best individual average (BED). With his second place, Caudron improved his chances of overall World Cup victory in 2005 considerably. The Koreans playing in the final round made for strong performances. For the first time, Choi Jae-dong managed to win a set in one recording.

^ Heinrich Weingartner: Billiards . No. 179 . Vienna November 2005, p. 9-13 .
The three-cushion World Cup was organized by the founding association, the "
Billiards Worldcup Association " (BWA) until 1998 . Disputes between the BWA and the world association
Union Mondiale de Billard (UMB) led to parallel tournaments between 1994 and 1997. The UMB / BWA organized the tournament together until the beginning of 1999. Since the dissolution of the BWA in 1999, the UMB has been the sole organizer.
From 1988-1991 the UMB did not host any world championships. During this time, the annual overall winner of the World Cup was crowned world champion.
