European Championship (men)

From 12 to 28 January was held in Croatia , the European Handball Championship men instead. Spain was the winner .

European Championship (women)

The 13th European Women's Handball Championship was held in France from November 29 to December 16, 2018 . In the final, the reigning world champion France secured the title of European champion for the first time with a contested 24:21 victory over Olympic champion Russia.

The 69th Formula 1 World Championship began on March 25 in Melbourne, Australia and ended on November 25 in Abu Dhabi . Lewis Hamilton became world champion.

DTM

The 32nd season of the German Touring Car Masters began on May 4th at the Hockenheimring .

Motorcycle world championship

The 70th season of the Motorcycle World Championship, with the three classes MotoGP , Moto2 and Moto3 , began on March 18 in Qatar at the Losail International Circuit . After the planned 19 races, the season finale will take place in Valencia on November 18th .

Superbike World Championship

The 31st season of the Superbike World Championship in Australia began on February 24th at the Phillip Island Circuit . 13 events with two races each are planned. The season finale will take place on October 27th in Qatar at the Losail International Circuit.

Giro d'Italia

The 101st  Giro d'Italia  took place from May 4th to 27th and consisted of a total of 21 stages over 3,562.9 kilometers. The road bike race started with an individual time trial in Jerusalem ( Israel ) and ended in Rome .

Tour de France

The 105th Tour de France will take place from July 7th to 29th mainly in France , but also through Spain . The tour consisted of 21 stages over a total of 3,329 kilometers.

Four Hills Tournament

The 66th Four Hills Tournament took place from December 29, 2017 to January 6, 2018 . Defending champion Kamil Stoch won the tour again after he was victorious in all four competitions and thus repeated the success of Sven Hannawald , who was the first jumper to win all four competitions in 2001/02 .

Ski flying world championship

It took place from January 18-21, 2018. In the individual, Daniel-André Tande became world ski flying champion, in the team competition the Norwegian quartet won gold.

Australian Open

The 106th Australian Open took place from January 15th to 28th in Melbourne , Australia . The singles were won by Swiss Roger Federer (20th Grand Slam title) for men and Dane Caroline Wozniacki (1st Grand Slam title) for women. In the men's doubles won Oliver Marach and Mate Pavić , in women's doubles Timea Babos and Kristina Mladenovic and Mixed Gabriela Dabrowski and Mate Pavić.

The 117th French Open will take place from May 27th to June 10th in the French capital Paris .
