Automobile sport
Formula 1 season
The 2013 Formula 1 season was the 64th FIA Formula 1 World Championship. It comprised 19 Grand Prix. It started on March 17th in Melbourne and ended on November 24th in Interlagos. The German Sebastian Vettel became driver world champion for the fourth time in a row, the Red Bull-Renault team for the fourth time in a row constructors' world champion.
World Rally Championship (WRC)
The 2013 World Rally Championship was the 41st FIA World Rally Championship. It started on January 20th in Monte Carlo and ended on November 17th in the UK. 13 races were held. The French Sébastien Ogier and co-driver Julien Ingrssia won the world championship with the Volkswagen Polo R WRC .
GP2 series
The 2013 GP2 series was the ninth season of the GP2 series. Eleven race weekends were held. The season began on March 23 in Sepang and ended on November 3 in Yas Island. The Swiss Fabio Leimer won the championship title.
World Touring Car Championship (WTCC)
The 2013 World Touring Car Championship was the tenth season of the World Touring Car Championship and the ninth since the series was restarted in 2005. It began on March 24 in Monza and ended on November 17 in Macau. The French Yvan Muller won the world title for the fourth time.
Endurance World Championship (WEC)
The 2013 FIA World Endurance Championship (officially 2013 FIA World Endurance Championship) is the second season of the FIA World Endurance Championship. It began on April 14th at Silverstone and ended on November 30th in al-Sachir. Tom Kristensen , Allan McNish and Loïc Duval won the world championship.
Le Mans 24 hour race
The 81st 24-hour race of Le Mans took place on June 22nd and 23rd, 2013 on the Circuit des 24 Heures . The winners Tom Kristensen , Allan McNish and Loïc Duval with the Audi R18 e-tron quattro .
IndyCar Series
The IndyCar Series 2013 was the 18th season of the American IndyCar Series and the 102nd season in American monoposto sport. It began on March 24th in St. Petersburg and ended on October 19th in Fontana. Scott Dixon won the IndyCar Series for the third time. Tony Kanaan won this year's Indianapolis 500 .
Porsche Supercup
The 2013 Porsche Supercup was the 21st season of the Porsche Supercup. It comprised nine races. The season started on May 12th in Barcelona and ended on November 3rd in Abu Dhabi. The Dane Nicki Thiim became champion in this series for the first time.
badminton
The highlights of the badminton year 2013 are the World Championships and the Sudirman Cup . Major tournament series are the BWF Super Series and the BWF Grand Prix . For multi-sport events, badminton is part of the program at the Southeast Asian Games , the East Asian Games , the Juegos Bolivarianos , the Deaflympics and the Universiade . For the first time in the international calendar, the Mercosul International and the London Grand Prix Gold can be found .

Motorcycle world championship
A total of 18 races were held between April 7th and November 10th .
MotoGP class (800 cm³)
- World champion in the MotoGP class (800 cm³) is the Spaniard Marc Márquez on a Honda ahead of his compatriots Jorge Lorenzo ( Yamaha ) and Dani Pedrosa (also Honda). For the 20-year-old rookie Márquez, this is the first world championship title in the premier class and the third of his career. At the same time, he is the youngest MotoGP world champion in history. In the constructors' championship , Honda beats Yamaha and Ducati .
Moto2 class (600 cm³)
- In the Moto2 class, the 22-year-old Spaniard Pol Espargaró wins the title on a Kalex . British rider Scott Redding came in second, compatriot Esteve Rabat (both also Kalex) came third . For Espargaró this is the first world title of his career. In the constructors' championship , Kalex wins ahead of Suter and Speed Up. For the German manufacturer, this is the first title in the category that has been held since 2010 .
Moto3 class (250 cm³)
- The title in the second Moto3 class was won by 18-year-old Spaniard Maverick Viñales on a KTM ahead of his compatriots Álex Rins and Luis Salom (both also KTM). For Viñales it is the first world title of his career. In the constructors' championship , KTM wins ahead of Kalex -KTM and Mahindra .
Superbike World Championship
- The 28-year-old Brit Tom Sykes won the drivers' championship on a Kawasaki ZX-10R ahead of the Irishman Eugene Laverty and the Frenchman Sylvain Guintoli (both Aprilia RSV4 Factory ). For Sykes, who was vice world champion behind Max Biaggi last year , it is the first world title of his career. Aprilia beat Kawasaki and BMW in the constructors' championship .

World Supersport Championship
- The Brit Sam Lowes wins the drivers' championship on a Yamaha YZF-R6 ahead of the Turkish Kenan Sofuoğlu and the French Fabien Foret (both Kawasaki ZX-6R ). For the 23-year-old, this is the first Supersport World Championship title of his career, having finished third behind Sofuoğlu and Jules Cluzel last year .
