The three- cushion world cup 2011/2 was the second UMB / CEB world cup tournament in the 25th year of the three-cushion world cup. The tournament took place from June 27 to July 3, 2011 in the Portuguese port city of Matosinhos . It was the tenth World Cup tournament in Portugal.

history

The second tournament of 2011 took place from June 27th to July 3rd in the Portuguese port city of Matosinhos near Porto . 135 billiards athletes started.

The Korean Heo Jung-han achieved the best result of the qualifying round. In his first group game against Turkey's Hakan Inçekara, he easily won 2-0 (15: 9 and 15: 5) in two sets with an individual average ( ED ) of 2.307. In the second game against Ly The Vieh from Vietnam he increased his performance again and sent him home with 15: 2 and 15: 9. That earned him an ED of 3,000 and a General Average (GD) of 2.608. Another surprise was the Spaniard Sergio Jimenez, who was the only P qualifier to make it into the "Best 32" group. In his group he beat the last remaining German, Ronny Lindemann from Witten, as well as the only remaining Austrian Gerhard Kostistansky. In the first round, however, he had to admit defeat to his compatriot and ex-world champion Daniel Sánchez , even if only just 2: 3 (4:15, 15:14, 8:15, 15: 9 and 5:15) .

The only seeded German player in the main round, Martin Horn from Essen, was not up to the Belgian qualifier Eddy Leppens in his first round match and lost 1: 3 (7:15, 15: 8, 9:15, 5:15). In the final, Spaniard Daniel Sánchez won 3: 2 (11:15, 5:15, 15:12, 15: 4 and 15: 9) against Frédéric Caudron from Belgium after a 2-0 set deficit . However, the best GD of the entire tournament was played by Dick Jaspers from the Netherlands with 1.953.
