The former village of Großreuth behind the fortress has been a district of Nuremberg since 1899 ( statistical district 8 - northeastern outer city ).

geography

Großreuth is located in the north of the city between Volkspark Marienberg and the Ringstrasse . Neighboring districts are Kleinreuth behind the fortress , Maxfeld and gardens behind the fortress .

structure

Even if Großreuth is affected today by the traffic on Kilianstrasse and is divided into different statistical districts, village structures can still be recognized. Farmhouses and inns made of sandstone blocks, the substance of which dates back to the early 18th century, can be found along Großreuther Straße, mostly in a well-restored condition. The country inn "Zum Lutzgarten" deserves special mention.

The land to the north behind the houses is traditionally used for growing vegetables and by allotment gardeners as club grounds. To the south of the old village center, Kilianstrasse runs lengthways in an east-west direction and is lined with commercial buildings from the 1970s to 1990s.

history

The village goes back to a clearing of the imperial city of Nuremberg from the 11th or 12th century for a royal farm and was first mentioned in 1375 as "von der grozzen Rewt". During the First and Second Margrave Wars and the Thirty Years' War , the place was destroyed and then rebuilt each time.

Towards the end of the 18th century there were 30 properties behind the fortress in Großreuth. The high court exercised the imperial city of Nuremberg , but this was disputed by the Brandenburg-Bayreuth Oberamt Baiersdorf . The Landpflegamt Nürnberg was in charge of the village and community . The landlords were the imperial city of Nuremberg: Landesalmosenamt (2 half courtyards, 1 quarter courtyard, 1 estate), Pfinzing Foundation (3 estates); the Nuremberg owners von Fürer (2 Gütlein), von Grundherr (1 Gütlein), von Haller (1 Gut), von Imhoff (1 Inn), von Kreß (4 goods), Burkhard von Löffelholzscher Familienfideikommiss (2 Gütlein), von Peller ( 2 Gütlein), von Pömer (4 goods, 2 of which together with v.Löffelholz), von Tucher (2 goods), von Volckamer (2 goods), von Welser (1 Gütlein). In 1796 Großreuth came to Prussia behind the fortress and was administered by the Erlangen Justice and Chamber Office, in 1810 it came to Bavaria . The municipality of Großreuth was under the administration and jurisdiction of the Erlangen regional court and the tax office in Erlangen . In voluntary jurisdiction, 7 properties were under the Patrimonial Court (PG) Boxdorf from 1823 to 1835 , 2 properties from 1820 to 1838 to the PG Bubenreuth , 1 property from 1822 to 1840 to the PG Buch , 2 properties from 1822 to 1836 to the PG Haimendorf , 3 properties from 1822 to 1835 to the PG Lohe and Behringersdorf , 1 property from 1823 to 1835 to the PG Nemsdorf , 2 properties from 1820 to 1835 to the PG Schoppershof and 2 properties from 1821 to 1835 to the PG Steinach . From 1826 stood Großreuth behind the Veste in administration and jurisdiction of the District Court of Nuremberg and in the financial administration of the bursary Nuremberg (1920 in the tax office Nuremberg renamed). From 1862 Großreuth was administered by the Nuremberg District Office . Jurisdiction has been with the Nuremberg District Court since 1880 . The municipality had an area of ​​3.735 km².

The morning party met in the Lutz'schen Kaffeehaus (today Lutzgarten ) from 1830 to 1933 .

On January 1, 1899, Großreuth was incorporated into the city of Nuremberg behind the fortress .
