Maurepas (Picard: Maurpo) is a northern French municipality with 197 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Somme in the region of Hauts-de-France . The municipality belongs to the canton of Péronne .

geography

The municipality, to which the hamlet of Leforest also belongs, is located around 13 km northwest of Péronne on the D146 departmental road. On the eastern edge of the municipality, the A1 autoroute with a rest area near the junction and parallel to it the LGV Nord high-speed railway line .

history

In the Battle of the Somme , Maurepas became a battlefield in September 1916. The community received the Croix de guerre 1914-1918 as an award .
