The Saint-Nicolas church

Cappy (Picard: Capin) is a northern French municipality with 535 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Somme in the region of Hauts-de-France . The municipality belongs to the canton of Albert and is part of the Communauté de communes du Pays du Coquelicot .

geography

The municipality, which is largely located on the left bank of the Somme and whose name appears as Capiacum in 1877 , is located around 3.5 km southeast of Bray-sur-Somme on the D1 departmental road, from which the D164 departmental road branches off. In Cappy there is a base for boat tourism on the Somme and other facilities for tourism. The amphibious environment forms the basis for hunting and fishing.

During the First World War , Cappy was frequently bombed and partially destroyed.

The community received the Croix de guerre 1914-1918 as an award .
