At the Giro d'Italia 2012 , a total of 198 professional cyclists competed in 22 teams.

Legend

  • Suspension: exclusion by own team
  • Exclusion: Exclusion by the race management before the start of the race
  • Disqualification: Exclusion by the race management after the start of the race
  • Awards after the finish:
    • winner: Stage winner
    • Pink jersey: Pink jersey for the overall leader
    • Blue jersey: Blue jersey for the best in the mountains
    • Points jersey: Red jersey for the best on points
    • White jersey: White jersey for the best young driver under 25 years of age
    • Traguardi Volante : intermediate sprint classification
    • Premio Fuga : Scoring in which the distance traveled by the drivers are added up
    • Premio Combattività : Rating for the most combative driver , which is made up of the placements of the drivers in the intermediate sprints and at the end of the stage

    • Super team : team ranking on points
