Jakob Schneider (born April 18, 1994 in Ihringen ) is a German rower .

Athletic career

The 1.99 m tall tailor starts for the rowing club on Lake Baldeney . As a junior rower, he took part in the 2012 Junior World Rowing Championships and won a bronze medal in the four-man row without a helmsman . In 2014 and 2016 he also won a silver and a bronze medal at the U23 World Championships .

In the open age group, Schneider has already rowed in the 2015 season at the Rowing World Cup and the World Championships . Together with Clemens Ernsting and helmsman Jonas Wiesen , he won the World Championship silver medal in two with helmsman .

During the upheaval after the 2016 Olympic Games, he was able to establish himself in the Germany eighth , with which Schneider won the gold medal at the 2017 European Championships and set a new world record in the men's eighth at the second rowing World Cup of the same year in Poznan . After winning the World Cup final in Lucerne, the Germany eight remained unbeaten at the end of the season and won the title at the 2017 World Championships .
