List of Olympic champions in football

The list of Olympic champions in football lists all the winners, second and third placed teams with the complete squad of the five previous Olympic women's football tournaments . In the further part, all players who have won at least one gold medal are listed.
Women's football was first an Olympic discipline at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta . In contrast to the men, the respective senior national teams take part in the women. The rule that no more than three players may be older than 23 years does not apply to women.
Record winners are the USA with four tournament victories. Only at the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000 the US selection had to admit defeat. Norway won . The reigning European champion Germany has won three bronze medals so far. 61 players have won the gold medal in the five previous Olympic women's football tournaments.

The most successful players
- Place: Indicates the order of the players. This is determined by the number of gold medals. If the number is the same, the silver medals are compared and then the bronze medals.
- Name: Give the name of the player.
- Country: Name the country for which the player started.
- Gold: states the number of gold medals won.
- Silver: states the number of silver medals won.
- Bronze: states the number of bronze medals won.
- Total: states the number of all medals won.
