Nordenfelt was a French car brand from before the First World War . There are various information on the manufacturer and the production site in the literature.

Company history

The Société des Usines Prunel from Puteaux manufactured automobiles between 1900 and 1907, which in most cases were marketed as Prunel . In 1906 the brand name Nordenfelt was introduced. These vehicles were mainly intended for sales in Belgium . Various parts were assembled in Liège . In this context, the name of the company Société Anonyme des Établissements John Cockerill falls from John Cockerill , although Cockerill denies having anything to do with the Nordenfelt. It was sold in Great Britain by the former racing driver Clifford Earp . Production ended in 1910. Phénix later took over the plant.

vehicles

The company manufactured the 12 CV , 16 CV , 20 CV , 24/30 CV , 30/35 CV and 40/45 CV models . All models had a four-cylinder engine of Barriquand & Marre . The motors were mounted in the front of the chassis and powered the rear axle via a cardan shaft . Hewers , Withers, and other body manufacturers made the bodies.

A Nordenfelt 30/35 CV still exists in South Africa today .
