The three- cushion world cup 2011/5 was the fifth and final UMB / CEB world cup tournament in the 25th year of the three- cushion world cup. The tournament took place from December 4 to 10, 2011 in the Egyptian resort of Hurghada on the Red Sea. It was the ninth World Cup tournament in Egypt.
history
The World Cup tournament in Hurghada was a tournament of surprises. The first six of the current world rankings were eliminated in the quarterfinals. The two final opponents Adnan Yüksel and Jérémy Bury, who both had not won a World Cup tournament , made the best use of this opportunity . Bury was also considered an easy favorite and took the lead with 2-1 sets. But then Yüksel showed his fighting qualities and won set four with 15: 7 and set five with 15: 4. He was the third Turk to win a World Cup tournament.

Tournament mode
Four qualifying rounds were played in Hurghada. From the last qualifying round, the 12 group winners qualified for the final round. There were also wildcard players from the host and the associations from America, Asia and Europe as well as the UMB . The main tournament was played with 32 participants. Since Luis Aveiga from Equador did not take part in the tournament, the best runner-up Christian Rudolph got a place in the main field as lucky loser.
In the qualifying rounds, two sets of 15 points each were played in round robin mode. All games were played with a push . The shot clock was set to 50 seconds per shot.
In the event of a tie, the following order will be applied:
MP = match points
SV = rate ratio
GD = general average
HS = maximum series
Seeded players and wild cards
The first 12 players in the world rankings and the wildcard players automatically took part as players in the tournament in the knockout round. The first four of the world rankings were placed in positions 1, 16, 8 and 9.

The three-cushion World Cup was organized by the founding association, the "
Billiards Worldcup Association " (BWA) until 1998 . Disputes between the BWA and the world association
Union Mondiale de Billard (UMB) led to parallel tournaments between 1994 and 1997. The UMB / BWA organized the tournament together until the beginning of 1999. Since the dissolution of the BWA in 1999, the UMB has been the sole organizer.
From 1988-1991 the UMB did not host any world championships. During this time, the annual overall winner of the World Cup was crowned world champion.
