Hirnyk

Hirnyk ( Ukrainian Гірник ; Russian Горняк Gornjak ) is a city in the Ukrainian Oblast of Donetsk with about 11,000 inhabitants (2018).

Hirnyk was founded in 1938 as a miners' settlement Sozhorodok ( Соцгородок ) and received city status in 1958.

Hirnyk is located in the Donbas near the bank of the Vovcha and belongs administratively to the urban district of the city of Selydowe, 14 km to the north . The Donetsk Oblast Center is located 45 km east of Hirnyk.
