This list includes all German musicians and music projects that have made it into the US Billboard 200 (US album charts) and Billboard Hot 100 (US single charts). Because singles often collaborate with foreign musicians, all German musicians and music projects are shown in bold . The coloring of the lines refers to the top 10 or number one placement.

In the chart history of the Billboard 200 (as of March 21, 2020), a total of 189 albums with German artists were placed in the chart list, only 15 of the albums achieved a top 10 rating, only four albums reached the top position. Crazy Otto 's album of the same name, Crazy Otto, entered the Billboard 200 in 1955 as the first ever album by a German artist . The album was at the top of the charts, which was also achieved by Bert Kaempfert in 1961 with his Wonderland by Night (an English version of his Wonderland by Night ) and 38 years later Milli Vanilli with Girl You Know It's True and Hans Zimmer with the film music The Lion King (OST) . Kaempfert recorded the most chart successes overall with 20 and the Scorpions with 19 chart listings. The record for the longest length of stay on the Billboard 200 goes to MCMXC aD from Enigma with 282 chart weeks . Hans Zimmer's The Lion King (OST) was the only sound carrier to be awarded a diamond record , making it the best-selling album by a German performer in the United States.

As the first single with German interpreters, Smiles from Crazy Otto entered the Billboard Hot 100 in 1955. The first number one hit by a German performer came from Bert Kaempfert in 1961 with his Wonderland by Night (English version of Wonderland by Night ). Furthermore, in 1975 Silver Convention with Fly, Robin, Fly / Tiger Baby , in 1989 Milli Vanilli with three different singles in a row and in 2015 Felix Jaehn with Cheerleader (Felix Jaehn Remix) reached the top position. Kaempfert was able to record the most chart successes overall with eleven chart listings. The record for the longest stay on the Billboard Hot 100 goes to Another Night by Real McCoy with 45 chart weeks . The best-selling singles were each awarded a triple platinum award for over three million units sold. These are the singles Clarity ( Zedd feat. Foxes ), Break Free ( Ariana Grande & Zedd) Cheerleader (Felix Jaehn Remix) ( Omi / Felix Jaehn) and Starving ( Hailee Steinfeld & Gray feat. Zedd). Three songs were successful in the original in German: Die kleine Bimmelbahn by Marianne Vasel & Erich Storz (“The Little Train” was just the single label), Autobahn by Kraftwerk and the 99 balloons by Nena .
