The Skyliners Frankfurt (Fraport Skyliners) are a German basketball club from Frankfurt am Main . The team has played in the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) since it was founded in 1999 . The national league license of TV Tatami Rhöndorf was taken over.
From the 2000/2001 season to September 2005, the team was called Opel Skyliners , then Deutsche Bank Skyliners . Since the 2011/2012 season, the club has been running under the name Fraport Skyliners . The cup victory was already won in the first season .
The greatest success was winning the German championship in 2004. In addition, the team took part in the international competitions Saporta Cup , ULEB Euroleague and ULEB Cup . The greatest success at European level came with winning the FIBA Europe Cup in 2016.
The veteran and best-known player is the seven-time all-star and national player Pascal Roller , who already played for the Skyliners in the year it was founded and stayed with the team after a year abroad until he retired in 2011.

founding
The then manager and former player of the TV Tatami Rhöndorf , Gunnar Wöbke , organized the move of his team from Bad Honnef in the Rhineland to the Main in 1999 . It was the declared goal from the beginning to play in a large hall in the vicinity of a big city in order to become a top team in the BBL and in Europe in the foreseeable future. This did not seem possible to those responsible and donors in Bad Honnef. After various moves of the Tatami Dragons - including to Cologne - had been in the media, the Frankfurt sports director Sylvia Schenk officially announced the change of location in May 1999. The license for the game operation lies with SKYLINERS GmbH. It was founded by the managing partner Gunnar Wöbke together with the Bad Honnef businessman Franz-Ludwig Solzbacher and the Kronberg entrepreneur Thomas Kunz and took over the Rhöndorfer license in 1999. Solzbacher then remained in addition to his involvement in Frankfurt patron of the TV Rhöndorf , the one with the second division license from Ludwigsburg prevented relegation to the regional league. After another unperceived rise, the Cologne 99ers benefited from the Bundesliga license. Kunz is also a patron of the Skyliners cooperation partner MTV Kronberg .

The basketball team has been named in the media as Skyliners , Skyliners Frankfurt and Frankfurt Skyliners . The logo was designed in the team colors. A blue stylized Frankfurt skyline stands on an orange basketball . The lettering SKYLINERS can be read at the bottom right . From 2000 the car manufacturer Opel was the main and name sponsor . In German and European basketball, name sponsoring is common in order to achieve greater advertising coverage. The club was renamed OPEL Skyliners . Only the lettering was changed on the logo. As a result of the car manufacturer's crisis, Opel announced in December 2004 that sponsorship would end in summer 2005 after the end of the current season. The search for sponsors and the license application for the basketball Bundesliga turned out to be difficult for the reigning champions. As a result, an extension of Opel's involvement by one year until the end of June 2006 was communicated with reduced remuneration. There was an exit option if another sponsor was found.
During the playoff final series against GHP Bamberg in June 2005 it was announced that this sponsor had been found with Deutsche Bank . Since the beginning of the 2005/2006 season, the team was called Deutsche Bank Skyliners . The logo was again adapted to the new name when it was renamed. The blue has been lightened to match the color of the name sponsor's logo. Deutsche Bank's high-rise towers were added to the silhouette .
The partnership with Deutsche Bank as the main and name sponsor lasted until the end of the 2010/2011 season. During the season there was a lot of speculation about the successor - a possible withdrawal to the second division was also considered. On May 31, however, the new name sponsor, Fraport , was presented, and from July 1, 2011 the association will be called Fraport Skyliners . During the summer break, the logo was revised and modernized again. The Frankfurt skyline is now only symbolized by the design of the letters "LIN"; the Fraport AG logo was discreetly quoted in the design of the lines on the basketball . The overall impression is intended to be reminiscent of American role models from the sports sector.
On March 18, 2017, it was announced that Fraport AG and Skyliners had prematurely extended the contract for another four years. This makes Fraport AG the longest main sponsor in the history of the Skyliners.

The Skyliners knüpften in its first Frankfurt 1999/2000 season to the sporting successes of the tatami Dragons to. The team had been completely reassembled. Of the successful Rhöndorf players (3rd place in the main round, semi-final playoffs ), two professionals moved to Frankfurt in addition to assistant trainer Daphne Bouzikou : Alexander Frisch and Gary Collier . Under the coach Stefan Koch the BBL placements of the previous season were achieved again. In the Saporta Cup , the Skyliners failed in the round of 16 against the later finalists Kinder Bologna . In the Northern European Basketball League (NEBL) the team did not get past 12th place in the main round. The numerous games in four competitions drained the substance of the team. The highlight of the season was the cup victory in its own hall against the favored team of the defending champion Alba Berlin , which at that time was still the series champion in German basketball.
That start with a new name sponsor Opel Skyliners in the 2000/2001 season for the first time in the newly formed ULEB Euro League . They just got a victory. In the Bundesliga, the playoff participation was secured late with eighth place in the table after numerous injuries. There the team lost to Alba Berlin in the first round . Coach Stefan Koch resigned after the season. His successor for the 2001/2002 season was Gordon Herbert . The team around Marcus Goree and Chad Austin was first in the main round and vice cup winner. Brandt Hagen was eliminated first in the playoffs , but Alba Berlin was again the stronger opponent in the semifinals . The entry into the top 16 of the Euroleague was just missed despite a positive victory record (8-6).
After the successful season, the top performers could not be retained. From the 2002/2003 season , a young team was built up with the aim of being able to play for the championship a few years later. The first year was mixed. After the seventh place in the main round, the future champions Alba Berlin was a number too big for Frankfurt in the playoff quarter-finals . For the 2003/2004 season , the team was supplemented by important players such as Chris A. Williams and Tyrone Ellis . Gordon Herbert aimed the team especially on the defensive. The reward was third in the final table of the Bundesliga. In the final of the BBL Cup, the RheinEnergie Cologne team lost . But in the playoff quarter-finals that started just a week later, the Skyliners were able to prevail against the same opponent after five games. The Telekom Baskets Bonn and GHP Bamberg were each defeated in the fifth and decisive game. In the end, the Opel Skyliners celebrated their first German championship on June 13, 2004.
After this success, it was the coach who became priceless to management. After Gordon Herbert's departure, Murat Didin became the Hessen coach for the first time in the 2004/2005 season . The face of the championship team was largely retained, but the coach had to do without Mario Kasun , who moved to Orlando Magic in the NBA . Didin made the team much more offensive. After a mixed start to the season with coordination problems, the team only used their full potential in the crucial phase of the season. Frankfurt was runner-up behind GHP Bamberg . In the ULEB Euroleague some respectable successes could be achieved.
The 2005/2006 season was the most difficult of the Skyliners . Compared to the previous year's team, there was only a low fluctuation. However, the expired contracts of Chris Williams and Tyrone Ellis could not be extended. Their positions have not been adequately filled. Murat Didin had returned to Turkey as a coach after a short notice. His successor was the hapless Ivan Sunara. At the start of the season, Kavossy Franklin was the only American in the team, while some of the competitors this season, after the foreigner regulation changed, almost exclusively with former US college players. When the sporting success did not materialize and there was also massive bad luck with injuries, numerous players were signed up. The change of coach to Charles Barton brought only a slight improvement in the situation. Relegation was only secured on the last day of the match. Not a single victory was achieved in the ULEB Cup.
Pascal Roller , who is contractually bound to the Skyliners until 2011 , used his option in the summer of 2006 to play abroad for a year. During the 2006/2007 season , the Skyliners were not qualified for any European competition for the first time. The Skyliners was approved by the FIBA , a wildcard for the FIBA EuroCup offered. Manager Gunnar Wöbke refused this because the squad planning for the season was not compatible with the FIBA regulations. Charles Barton put together a very athletic team that started the season successfully. His team had no chances or emotion in the important games of the second half of the season. When the qualification for the playoffs no longer seemed possible, he was released early. Murat Didin came to Frankfurt again as head coach. He used the remaining games to get an overview of the capabilities of the players. Except for the young players in double license, Jimmy McKinney and Nino Garris were the only regular players in Frankfurt.
With the players assembled for the 2007/2008 season around the returned team captain Pascal Roller, the aim is to focus more on continuity in the team. With Derrick Allen and Koko Archibong , two previous BBL top players were signed. The Skyliners received a wildcard for participation in the ULEB Cup - once again no victory was achieved. Due to the record series of eight games without defeat in a row, the playoffs of the basketball Bundesliga were reached early. In the quarter-finals, Bayer Giants Leverkusen were defeated, for whom the decisive fifth game in the series was also the last game before the professional team moved to Düsseldorf and started again at home in the Regionalliga. In the semifinals, the Telekom Baskets Bonn were also bid farewell from their hall - but with the opposite sign: Bonn moved into the final against Alba Berlin and has been using the club's new Telekom Dome venue since then .
During the summer break, the top performers were retained and the team was also specifically strengthened. The team showed strong early form in preparation for the 2008/2009 season . Player failures during the season were compensated by initially limited follow-up commitments in the try-out. With one exception, these contracts were extended until at least the end of the season. Internationally, the group stage was reached in the EuroChallenge , but there you could not prevail against the stronger competitors. During the strong December, the Skyliners were traded as title candidates by opposing trainers. The team could not maintain this form, however, as no sustainable structures had developed in the large squad. In the quarterfinals, the team was eliminated from the eventual champions EWE Baskets Oldenburg .
When the new signings for the 2009/2010 season became known, the Frankfurter Rundschau coined the term Sparliners , as the vita of several new players suggested savings on salaries. However, investments were made in the position of point guard, so that instead of a back-up as before, Captain Pascal Roller now had an equal player with a different profile next to him with Aubrey Reese . Murat Didin led the team to the cup final in the local ball sports hall, where they lost to the eventual champions Bamberg. Didin was released the following day. The Frankfurt newspapers rumored that he should have left even if he had won the cup. The reason given was doubts about reaching the playoffs, as there were signs that a slump like the previous season could have been repeated. In addition, regular rumors of Didin's transfer back to Turkey had burdened the talks with the name sponsor Deutsche Bank, as inadequate public pressure had been built up. Gordon Herbert was presented as the successor. Building on Didin's variable and very secure Defense, he managed to bring more structure to the attacking game and a more pronounced hierarchy in the team. In the playoff quarter-finals, the high favorite Alba Berlin was easily eliminated with 3-1 wins. Against the Eisbären Bremerhaven , the team had to cover the full distance before they met the Brose Baskets again in the final . This series also went over five games, with Bamberg winning the last, decisive game at home.
Despite two vice titles, Deutsche Bank did not extend the name sponsor contract, which is valid until summer 2011, but announced that it will from now on only appear as one of the Skyliners' premium partners. Several top performers like Derrick Allen , Seth Doliboa and Aubrey Reese could not be kept. They were only replaced late in the preparatory phase by players who were hitherto unknown in Germany. A total of nine players with fixed-term short-term contracts were used. These were partly justified as a try-out, to bridge injuries and to ensure the economic ability to act. The qualification for the Eurocup against Beşiktaş Cola Turka Istanbul failed, so that the team competed in the EuroChallenge . Despite a balanced record of three wins and three defeats, the team did not survive the first group stage. In the Bundesliga, the Skyliners got off to a strong start and finished the first half of the season without a home defeat in second place, thus qualifying for the cup competition.
In 2016, Frankfurt won the FIBA Europe Cup . After the end of the 2018/19 season, Herbert's tenure as head coach ended and his successor was found in his own ranks: Sebastian Gleim , who previously coached the second team and was an assistant coach on the Bundesliga team, took over the post.

- Five years after the final series against Bamberg, the Skyliners were again in the finals in two national competitions. Both times the opponent was - as then - Bamberg. The Skyliners won the first edition of the FIBA Europe Cup. In the Final Four they first prevailed in the semifinals against BK Yenisei Krasnoyarsk with 59:56. In the final in Chalon-sur-Saône , they were able to prevail against the Italian representative Pallacanestro Varese after a strong catch-up with 66:62. Guard Quantez Robertson became MVP (Most Valuable Player) of the tournament.

Pascal Roller
Pascal Roller: During the 2011 playoff series against Alba Berlin, the captain and record Bundesliga player Pascal Roller announced that he would end his career with the Skyliners in the summer of 2011 after eleven years. Roller was the star of the team, since it was founded in 1999, he has played continuously for the Skyliners in Frankfurt (exception: 2006/2007 season abroad). Roller wants to spend more time with his family. In recognition of the performance of Pascal Roller in the BBL and the national team, the BBL decided to rename the prize for the “Most likeable Player” to the “PASCAL ROLLER AWARD”.

The Skyliners began in 1999 with Stefan Koch as the first coach in the basketball league and became cup winners with him in their first year. He resigned prematurely after his second, much less successful 2000/2001 season. Stefan Koch's successor from 2001 to 2004 as head coach was Gordon Herbert . He built the championship team. After winning the title, he accepted a higher endowed offer from France.
In the 2004/2005 season Murat Didin became a coach in Frankfurt for the first time. Thanks to intensive coaching and some tactical decisions in the media and among opposing fans, he gained the reputation of a coaching fox . He propagated an offensive and attractive style of basketball that made his team runner-up. During the playoffs it became known that he had signed with Beşiktaş Cola Turka for the following season despite a still valid contract in Frankfurt . Only shortly before the start of the season there was an agreement on a transfer fee and the release for Beşiktaş.
Until the runner-up in 2005, the Skyliners had a lucky hand in choosing a coach. The German international Nino Garris justified his move from Berlin to Frankfurt in 2006 with this reputation among other things. Didin's successor Ivan Sunara in the 2005/2006 season was not very successful with the team he did not put together. He was released on January 6, 2006 for failure. His most famous station as a coach after the Skyliners is Cibona Zagreb . Kamil Novák took over responsibility as an interim trainer in January 2006. He is the sports director of the Skyliners and head of BCM . At the end of his active basketball career, he had not long before sat on the bench as a substitute for ULEB Cup matches. Novak was preferred as an interim trainer to the two assistant trainers, as no artificial hierarchy should be created between the two through the short-term promotion.
Charles Barton had a terrific debut on January 14th. After the team had regularly lost significantly before, the championship leader Alba Berlin was defeated and dominated both combatively and athletically. Although this remained one of the few exclamation points in the season, his contract was extended. In the following season in March 2007 he was also dismissed after manager Gunnar Wöbke no longer had the impression that Barton could still reach the team and improve team play.
The assistant coach of the 2006/2007 season, Mike Kalavros , took over responsibility as interim coach in March 2007. His successor was Murat Didin, who became head coach of the Frankfurt team for the second time. He was presented to the surprised public after another coach had been announced by the Frankfurt press. He still felt obliged to Frankfurt. One reason for his return, which was not meant very seriously, was that he still had a suitcase in Frankfurt. In the following season, the critical voices in the press and among the fans about his dealings with the team increased after he had harshly criticized players in public several times.
On April 12, 2010 Murat Didin was released from the Skyliners. His team had previously lost the cup final against Brose Baskets Bamberg in their own hall. There was also some tension between Didin and the manager of the Skyliners Gunnar Wöbke regarding rumors of change. Didin's successor, former master maker of the Skyliners Gordon Herbert , was already present at the cup final . He was presented at the same time as Didin's release and received a contract until the end of the 2010/2011 season. Herbert was then able to lead the team to the final of the German championship. There, however, the Skyliners were subject to the Brose Baskets Bamberg .
The Skyliners also played in the top of the league in the 2010/2011 season. Once again they made it into the final 4 of the cup and in the play-offs the Frankfurt team made it into the semi-finals. There they lost the Best Of Five series against Alba Berlin 3-2. June 2011 the Skyliners announced that Gordon Herbert would be leaving Frankfurt. Herbert moved within the league and became the new head coach of Alba Berlin.
His successor became his direct predecessor at Alba Berlin. The Israeli Muli Katzurin received a 2-year contract as the new head coach of the Fraport Skyliners. Under Katzurin, the Skyliners 2012/2013 were able to secure relegation after a financially difficult season on the last match day. A few days later, the club announced the separation from Katzurin.
Shortly thereafter, rumors increased that Katzurin's direct predecessor, Gordon Herbert , would return to the Skyliners. After all, he was introduced as the new trainer in May 2013. Herbert stayed in office until the end of the 2018/19 game year, and his previous assistant and coach of the second team Sebastian Gleim was hired as his successor .
- Assistant coach
A founding member of the Skyliners was Daphne Bouzikou as an assistant coach on the sidelines. She had already been assistant to Joe Whelton in Rhöndorf and moved with the team to Frankfurt. There she was responsible for the athletics and endurance of the players. She also gained notoriety because, according to press reports, she was the only woman in the world to train a male professional basketball team. At the beginning of the 2008 season, Bouzikou had to leave the team. A lawsuit ensued, which ended in a settlement. Axel Rüber was an assistant trainer from 2000 to 2003. He continues to work for the Skyliners as a trainer in various youth, university and corporate programs.
Simon Cote , who sat on the bank of the Skyliners from 2003 to 2006, assisted as Rübers successor . He resigned after receiving an offer from the Denver Nuggets to be responsible for talent scouting for the NBA team in Europe. He was followed in the 2006/2007 season by Mike Kalavros , who was also a brief interim coach in March 2007. His successor as assistant trainer has been Steven Clauss since 2007 , who previously worked for the Skyliners as head of the Basketball Academy Rhein-Main . After the final restructuring of the youth work, Clauss left the Skyliners in the summer. He was followed by Klaus Perwas as co-trainer , and Harald Stein coordinated the work with the youngsters .
After separating from Daphne Bouzikou, Murat Didin brought in his compatriot Engin Gencoglu , who was involved in both team training and the youth program. When he switched to Gordon Herbert, he was replaced by Tom Johnson , who stayed until the end of the 2009/2020 season. Since then, Klaus Perwas has been the only assistant coach.

Status: summer break 2018
The longest winning streak was with eight wins in a row in the 2007/2008 season. The longest losing streak lasted only six games in a row in 2005/2006. However, the series with 23 defeats in a row is much longer in international matches. The last game before this series won the Skyliners in the ULEB Euroleague on January 19, 2005 with 68:66 against Panathinaikos Athens . The opponent protested against this victory, since the tip-in by Miroslav Todic only took place after the final siren. In the first instance Panathinaikos got right and the ULEB decided to reschedule the game in a replay. In the second instance, the factual decision of the arbitrators and thus Frankfurt's victory was confirmed.
It took more than three and a half years until the next victory in the EuroChallenge against the Ukrainian team MBC Nikolaev on October 14, 2008. The journey to the 75:68 victory took two days after a missed connecting flight. The highest number of games during a season was 1999/2000, when 41 out of 65 national and international games were won. A new club record was also set in 2010/2011, when the Skyliner won 15 of 17 home games.

The Skyliners took 51 rebounds. 19 of them went to the account of Mario Kasun - this is also a team record. Fraport Arena
The Fraport Skyliners play their home games in the Fraport Arena, which holds 5002 spectators (until summer 2011, the Frankfurt Ball Sports Hall). From 1998 to 2001 as well as 2005 and 2010 the Top4 tournament for the basketball cup was held there in Frankfurt. In the 2006/07 season the home game against Telekom Baskets Bonn took place in the much larger festival hall .
Basketball City Mainhattan (BCM)
The infrastructure of the modern training center was unique in German basketball when it opened. It is located directly at the NordWestZentrum , the largest shopping center in the Rhine-Main area . Training hall, fitness center, administration and canteen offer optimal training conditions under one roof. The players' accommodations are in the immediate vicinity. The BCM is used regularly by the DBB and international club and national teams.

The home premiere of the Skyliners was on September 25, 1999 against Brandt Hagen in front of 3000 spectators. The overall positive audience development can be seen in a few cornerstones:
- In the sportily less attractive northern European basketball league NEBL , the home games sometimes took place in front of less than 200 spectators in the first season. For comparison: In the 2007/2008 season, the pure test games against belgacom Liege mean that there are many more paying spectators.
- Up to and including the 2005/2006 season, the first sporting crisis year, the number of viewers increased. During this season, the visitor record was achieved on October 22, 2005 against Telekom Baskets Bonn in front of 8,500 spectators in the sold out festival hall .
- In the second crisis season of 2006/2007, the number of viewers fell only slightly, but for the first time over 2,000 season tickets were sold.
- In the 2007/2008 season, the number of visitors increased again. The Skyliners have the third highest average attendance of the BBL (after Alba Berlin and the Brose Baskets ). The occupancy rate is in the middle with 87%.
- Despite the relatively high occupancy, the Skyliners can rarely report a sold-out house. In contrast, poorly attended home games are also above the league average.
- In the 2010/2011 season, the audience average fell by 3.1% for a long time. However, this can be seen in the extremely poor game plan. The Skyliners had to play a quarter of their home games during the week (Mon-Thu). Since this overlapped with working hours and school hours, the hall could not be filled as usual.
- However, the future is more than positive. A new hall with better transport connections is also in sight (it should be opened in 2015 if everything goes according to plan.)
This solid audience base was secured by the fact that the Skyliners reach a predominantly young and educated audience through various programs. This is done directly through card contingents that are bought by sponsors and other companies and given to their employees as an incentive . Bundesliga teams in the Rhine-Main area
Even before the appearance of the Skyliners, high-class basketball was already being played in the Rhine-Main area and in Frankfurt. In the 1966/1967 season, Grünweiß Frankfurt was one of the founding members of the Basketball Bundesliga. The team finished second in the southern season of the league and failed in the semi-finals of the German championship at VfL Osnabrück . In the following year, Eintracht Frankfurt also rose to the highest German league, so that two Frankfurt teams were first class at the same time. Eintracht lasted until 1969, GW Frankfurt until 1971 first class. Then there were teams from Darmstadt, Mainz and Hanau, Aschaffenburg, who represented the Rhine-Main area without being able to establish themselves permanently. In 1979/1980 there was another intermezzo of Eintracht and in 1981 TV 1862 Langen achieved the rise for the first time, which was first class as an elevator team until 1992 in six seasons. Of all these teams, Eintracht and especially TV 1862 Langen had teams in the 2nd basketball league in the recent past .
In the women's area, the Rhein-Main Baskets , a syndicate consisting of TV Langen and TG Hofheim, achieved promotion to the women's basketball league in 2009 . The wheelchair basketball players Mainhatten Skywheelers of the RSC Frankfurt were before their voluntary retirement in 1996 from the first Bundesliga cup winners, three-time champions and frequent runners-up. 2004 succeeded the promotion to the top division.
Promotion of young talent
Originally a purely professional basketball team with no historical roots at the venue through a long-established sports club, the Skyliners now attach great importance to the intensive promotion of young talent. Under the name Basketball Academy Rhein-Main ( BARM ), the Skyliners cooperate with schools, universities, TV Langen and MTV Kronberg, among others . Attention is paid to the academic and professional training of athletes. So far, international basketball players such as Mario Kasun and Mlađen Šljivančanin , national talents such as Dominik Bahiense de Mello and Alex King as well as regional players from the Rhine-Main area have received funding . Although the independent youth work of TV Langen is attracting nationwide attention and being successful, there are still no examples of a “local hero” being able to assert himself with the Skyliners . While TV Langen, MTV Kronberg and Eintracht Frankfurt sent a team to the top German junior division at the start of the junior basketball league (NBBL) in 2006, the Skyliners were in junior or higher amateur divisions for years without a corresponding foundation .
Initially, the Skyliners worked on using the media presence of the professional team to make basketball more popular in youth and school sports. The aim is to create a broader basis for talent scouting on the one hand. As a side effect, on the other hand, the presence on site such as in schools etc. should increase the popularity and interest in the games of the professional team. In the BB4You ( German basketball for you ) program, the association bundled regional teacher and trainer training courses as well as school visits by players and trainers of the professional team. Well over 100 schools in the Frankfurt area registered in the summer of 2007 on an initiative by the Skyliners to offer basketball teams in grades three to six through team trainers. The coordination of the project was entrusted to the former national player Harald Stein . In addition to this, own youth and amateur teams have now been set up in their own sports club. A first youth team in the U12 age group under the name Skyliners started playing in January 2008. In the following season, two U12 teams and one U14 team started.
In order to promote the young players of the junior age, the Skyliners were able to place a team in the ProB within the 2nd Bundesliga after the retirement of the TG renesas Landshut, independently of TV Langen, who had played in the hierarchically higher ProA division of the restructured 2nd Bundesliga since 2006 professional team. Harald Stein initially took over as head coach in the ProB 2009/10, leading the team, which in connection with the current sponsor name took on as Skyliners Juniors . There the young team managed to stay in the league early on, which was already seen as a great success in the club. After the descent of the Long Giraffes of TV 1862, the two Hessian teams competed with each other in the ProB 2010/11 . The new coach Klaus Mewes did not have as much success in the growing competition as Harald Stein did before, who took over the coordination of the entire youth department. At the end of the season, the team had to relegate athletically and could only achieve relegation by withdrawing other teams.
After the successful league in 2011/2012, Eric Detlev, a new head coach, was introduced for the 2012/2013 season . Detlev previously worked for the Dragons Rhöndorf . The previous head coach Klaus Mewes will continue to work in the Skyliners environment as head coach for the NBBL team and the regional league team. In the ProB 2012/13 for the first time the entry into the play-offs introduced in 2010 for promotion to the ProA succeeded. There, however, the team retired after two defeats against SC Rist Wedel in the first round.
After five years in which his team reached the playoffs every year, Eric Detlev left the Skyliners in the summer of 2017. His successor was Sebastian Gleim, who, like Eric Detlev, was previously an assistant coach of the Bundesliga team.
