Location of the municipality of Holtsee in the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district | ||
Holtsee ( Danish Holtsø ) is a municipality in the district of Rendsburg-Eckernförde in Schleswig-Holstein . In addition to the eponymous village, the suburbs of Lehmsiek (partially), Harzhof, Hohenlieth, Harfe, Hohenholm, Grünhorst, Lagenburg and Neu Holtsee belong to the municipality.
history
Holtsee probably originated around 1250 under the name Holtze as a rural settlement and was first mentioned in 1272. The place name possibly refers to the nearby lake, which is still located on the edge of the forest. The place was first mentioned in a document in 1450, when the Schleswig nobility recorded income from Holtsee.
Since the beginning of the 16th century, the place was under the estate , which meant serfdom for the residents.
On August 7, 1926, the municipality of Holtsee was formed as an independent regional body from part of the Hohenlieth estate (about 414 ha ).
On September 30, 1928, the Harzhof, Hohenholm and Grünhorst manor districts and most of the rest of the Hohenlieth manor district were incorporated.
politics
Community representation
Of the eleven seats in the municipal council, the CDU since the local elections has five seats in 2018, the SPD has four and the voter community HWG two seats.
coat of arms
Blazon : "A green oak tree above blue-silver waves in gold."
Two figures shape the heraldic symbol of the municipality of Holtsee: the green oak tree and the waves in the base of the shield. The base of the corrugated shield characterizes the geographical location of the place on the lake of the same name, the oak tree the natural location in the Hüttener Berge nature reserve. A larger forest area is located in the municipality in the immediate vicinity of the locality. The oak tree was selected from the deciduous trees in question because it was the "typical" tree of the original forest cover in the area. The village corridor was cleared from oak forests for the first time.
economy
There are around 50 farms in the village, 30 of which are active in agriculture . The Holtsee cheese dairy is known nationwide . It was founded in 1938 by 40 dairy farmers as the Holtsee dairy cooperative , which has focused on cheese production from the start. Today, the marketing takes place through the sales company Gut von Holstein and is supplied by around 120 producers from the Holtsee and Ascheberg area.
Gut Hohenlieth is the headquarters of the North German Plant Breeding Lembke : Rape, field beans, peas, ryegrass and red clover are grown.
