The Austrian soccer championship will be held for the 110th time in 2021/22 . The top division is the Austrian Bundesliga , which is held for the 48th time this season and for the fourth time since the 1992/93 season has been played by twelve teams. These determine the participants in the master and qualification group in initially two rounds; The Austrian football champions and the first three representatives of Austria in the international competitions of the 2022/23 season are then determined in the championship group. In addition, Austria's fourth participant in the Conference League qualification will be determined in the Europa League playoffs. The fifth participant is the ÖFB-Cup-Winner. The second highest division is the 2nd division , which will be played for the 47th time in 2021/22. This season, across all leagues, it was introduced that in the event of a tie, the direct duel is used instead of the goal difference as before.

The Bundesliga is the top division in Austrian football. This will be held for the 48th time in the 2021/22 season and will determine the 110th Austrian football champion. The sports betting provider Admiral will appear as the main sponsor for the first time .

The TV provider Sky Deutschland GmbH has the rights to show all Bundesliga games in full length that are broadcast on pay TV on the sky sport austria channel. The transmitter shows all games in conference call and as single games. In addition, four games and a highlight program will be broadcast on free TV.

mode

In the 2021/22 season, twelve clubs will compete against each other in 22 rounds for the fourth time after the 2018/19 season. Each team therefore plays once at home and away against every other team. Then the best six teams go into the champions group and the remaining six into the qualification group. The points from the basic round are halved. Half points are rounded down. If two clubs are tied at the end of the final round and half a point has been rounded off at one of these clubs, this club is ranked first. If none or both clubs rounded down, the goal difference is used as the next decision criterion. If this is also the same, the other four existing decision criteria are used.

This is followed by a Europa League playoff for places 4 and 5 in the championship group and for the winner of the qualification group, in which the last European Cup starting place is played out. The last placed in the top division must be relegated to the 2nd division.

Yellow cards and bans from yellow, yellow-red and red cards are taken from the basic round to the finals. Between the final round and the play-off games, only bans for yellow-red or red cards remain in place. The bans due to yellow cards or the number of yellow cards will be deleted after the final round, i.e. no yellow bans are possible in the play-off games. This is to ensure that the clubs can compete in the play-off games with the best possible teams.
