Attractions

  • The medieval castle , documented as early as 1284 , originally enclosed by walls and flanked by four corner towers , which is now known as Château Brotte , gave the Abbey of Luxeuil as a fief to the Lords of Mollans . Nothing can be seen of the houses that were previously built in the castle courtyard since the buildings and walls were used as a quarry for the construction of houses in the area in the 18th century and were systematically demolished. In 1950 two towers were still standing, one of which was partially demolished in the following years. The complex has been privately owned since 1993 and is being systematically restored in cooperation with the Monument Preservation Office . The donjon , which served as a residential tower, was completely restored.
  • The Saint-Martin church opposite the castle was preserved in the course of a 19th century renovation of the church tower from the 18th century. A stone bas-relief from the 16th century was used in the design of its altar . The church also has statues from the 17th and 18th centuries.
  • Also worth seeing is the beautiful 19th century fountain made of pink sandstone with its restored lavoir , in which until a few years ago the women of the village were washing their laundry.
