In the Middle Ages, the village belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in that part of the Bailliage d'Amont . In the 13th century, the local rulership was the Luxeuil monastery , later the place came under the rule of Colombier. Together with Franche-Comté , Bouhans-lès-Lure finally came to France with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678. Today Bouhans-lès-Lure is a member of the community association Communauté de communes des Franches-Communes, which comprises 14 localities .

Attractions

The village church of Saint-Aubin was built in the 19th century in the neo-Gothic style on the site of an originally Romanesque previous building. It houses a statue of the Virgin Mary (18th century). Other buildings worth seeing include the rectory from 1870 and the Mairie (parish hall) from 1750. The Lavoir (1842), whose roof is supported by numerous columns, stands a little outside the village. In the hamlet of La Brosse is the Auberge Rouge, which was built around 1600.

Many workers are therefore commuters who work in the larger towns in the area.

The village is located off the major thoroughfares on a department road that leads from Lure to Adelans. Further road connections exist with Quers and Amblans.
