Breuchotte is a municipality in the French department of Haute-Saône in the region Bourgogne Franche-Comté .
geography
Breuchotte is located at an altitude of 335 m above sea level, seven kilometers east-northeast of Luxeuil-les-Bains and about 34 kilometers northeast of the city of Vesoul (as the crow flies). The village extends in the northern part of the department, in the western foothills of the Vosges , in the valley on both sides of the Breuchin , near the confluence of the Raddon .
The area of the 4.37 km² municipal area comprises a section of the plateau landscape on the western edge of the Vosges, which is criss-crossed by valleys. The northern border runs in the alluvial lowlands of the Breuchin, mostly north of the river. The floodplain lies at an average of 330 m and is around one kilometer wide. The Raddon flows here from the north .
From the lowland of the Breuchin, the community area extends southward over a densely wooded steep slope to the adjacent plateau of the Grand Bois . It is made up of crystalline bedrock. At 422 m, the highest elevation of Breuchotte is reached here. This plateau is bordered in the east by a side valley of the Breuchin, in which there are a number of ponds that were created for fish farming.
Neighboring communities of Breuchotte are Raddon-et-Chapendu in the north, Amage and La Bruyère in the east, Esboz-Brest in the south and Froideconche in the west.
history
In the Middle Ages, Breuchotte belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in it to the area of the Bailliage d'Amont . Local rule was held by the Lords of Faucogney. Together with Franche-Comté , both villages came to France with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678. Today, Breuchotte is a member of the community association Communauté de communes du Pays de Luxeuil, which comprises 13 localities .
Attractions
The castle was built at the end of the 19th century by the Forel family, owners of two weaving mills in the village. The lavoir , whose roof is supported by numerous columns, also dates from the 19th century . It was once used as a wash house and cattle trough.

With 300 inhabitants (January 1, 2017), Breuchotte is one of the smaller municipalities in the Haute-Saône department. Breuchotte reached its highest level in terms of population in 1876 with 567 inhabitants. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century, only relatively minor fluctuations have been recorded since the mid-1970s.
Economy and Infrastructure
Breuchotte was already a village characterized by the two weaving mills. In addition, agriculture, forestry and animal husbandry were also important. Today there are some local small businesses. In the last few decades the village has also turned into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who work in the larger towns in the Luxeuil region.
The village is located off the major thoroughfares on a department road that leads from Raddon to Lure . There are other road connections with Saint-Sauveur and La Bruyère.
