history
Remains of the Roman traffic route that led from Luxeuil to Mandeure point to a very early inspection and settlement of the area. The Linexert clearing settlement was founded relatively late at a ford of the Lanterne. In the Middle Ages Linexert belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in it to the area of the Bailliage d'Amont . The local rule was held by the lords of Faucogney, later the village belonged to the barony of Mélisey. Together with Franche-Comté , the place finally came to France with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678. Today Linexert is a member of the communal association Communauté de communes des Franches-Communes, which comprises 14 localities . Linexert does not have its own church, but it is a co-owner of Franchevelle Church.
Attractions
Linexert's oldest farm dates back to 1743. The covered lavoir, which once served as a wash house and cattle trough, dates from 1886. There are two Calvaires on the road to Franchevelle .

With 128 inhabitants (January 1, 2017) Linexert is one of the small communities in the Haute-Saône department. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (181 people were still counted in 1881), population growth was recorded again from 1970 to 1990. Since then, the population has remained at a constant level.
Economy and Infrastructure
Linexert was a village dominated by agriculture (arable farming, fruit growing and cattle breeding) and forestry until well into the 20th century. Today there are some local small businesses, mainly in the window manufacturing and wood processing industries. In the last few decades the village has transformed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who work in the larger towns in the area.
The village is located off the major thoroughfares on a department road that leads from Quers to Lantenot. Another road connection is with Lure.
