Holzdorf ( Danish Holstoft, Holstorp or rarely: Holtrup , Low German : Holzdärer ) is a municipality in the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district in Schleswig-Holstein . The current municipal area has existed since 1928. Besides Holzdorf, Bösby ( Bosby ), Seeholz ( Søholt ), Söby ( Søby ) and other districts, mostly individual farms such as Hof Großholt ( Storskov ) and Maasleben ( Maaslev ) are in the municipality. The districts are in detail: Am See, Blumental, Bösby, Bösbyfeld, Bommerlund, Budwedt, Fellholz, Frauenholz, Glasholz, Greensteich, Großholz, Grünlund, Harzmoor, Hühnerland, Könsbyfeld, Krakery, Kratt, Lehmhaus, Maasleben, Moorbrücke, Morgenstern, Mühlenberg , Musnest, Osterfeld, Pommerbyholz, Poppenhörn, Russia, List, Seeholz, Söby, Steinborn, Steintal, Stromholz, Sumpf, Tilsholz, Tilsmaas, Tingborn, Vierländer, Weiholz, Wettstein, Wildhagen and Zwiksdamm.
history
The place Holzdorf was first mentioned in 1352 as Hotoft . The name derives from Danish. pick up for hole and -toft for living space or settlement, the place name therefore means settlement on a hole . Söby is first documented as Sobu in 1462 . The name is made up of dan. Sø for lake and -by for a settlement together. The name refers to the Söbyer See, the name of which is therefore secondary. Seeholz was only founded in the 18th century; a primary school was operated there until the 2007 summer vacation.
The community has existed in its current form since October 1, 1928. On this date, the previously independent communities of Holzdorf and Söby were merged. The municipality covers 1734 hectares.
The municipality of Holzdorf has been part of the Schlei-Ostsee office since January 1, 2008, after being part of the Mittelschwansen office from 1948 until the office reorganization on January 1, 1969 and of the Schwansen office until December 31, 2007 .
2012 failed in a referendum an attempt to dissolve the community and to einzugemeinden Rieseby and Damp.

Community representation
In the local elections of 2008 were the CDU , the SPD and the Wählergemeinschaft Wood Village Söby (WGH) on, the SPD received from the then twelve seats six, the other two Partenen three. In the local elections in 2013, the community of voters “Citizens for the municipality of Holzdorf” won all eleven seats in the municipal council, and in the local elections in 2018 a new grouping took place. The "Free Voters Holzdorf" received six seats and the "Interest group citizens for the community of Holzdorf" received five seats.

Geography and traffic
Holzdorf is about eleven kilometers north of Eckernförde near the Baltic Sea on the Schwansen peninsula . The Schwansenstraße ( B 203 ) from Eckernförde to Kappeln leads through the village. The Söbyer See is roughly the geographic center of Schwansen.

Good Maasleben
Maasleben was an episcopal fief that can be traced back to at least 1463. At that time it was called the Curia . It developed into one of the largest estates in Schwansen, in 1626 the villages Boesby, Holzdorf, Hümark, Söby and Thumby belonged to it. The parent farm, now Gut Maasleben, has belonged to the family of the current owner since 1871.
Phonomuseum "Old School"
The Phonomuseum "Old School" is a radio and gramophone museum in the restored building of the old village school, address Seeholz 40. The museum shows the technical development of the phono industry from 1880 to around 1965. There are around 750 exhibits on 400 m² of exhibition space.
