The Sony Open Tennis 2013 was a tennis tournament that took place from March 19 to 31, 2013 in Miami . It was part of the ATP World Tour 2013 and was played on hard court. This season it was the second of nine tournaments in the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 category . At the same time, the Sony Open Tennis 2013 for women took place in Miami .

Defending champion in singles was Novak Đoković , in doubles the pairing Leander Paes and Radek Štěpánek . Since Štěpánek paused because of an injury since January, Paes started with another partner.

The field of participants in the individual competition consisted of 96 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 32 pairs. The 32 top seeded players each received a bye to the second round.

The total prize pool was $ 4,330,625 and total financial commitments were $ 5,244,125.

The qualification for the Sony Open Tennis 2013 took place on March 18th and 19th, 2013. Twelve qualifying places were played, which entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament.
