European motorcycle championship
- At the European motorcycle championship held at the Nürburgring in Germany, local Willi Henkelmann won the title in the 175 cm³ class on a DKW ahead of his compatriots and brand colleagues Arthur Geiss and Arthur Müller .
- In the quarter liter class, the Briton Cecil Ashby prevailed on OK-Supreme against the German Walfried Winkler (DKW) and the Austrian Hugo Höbel ( Puch ).
- In the 350s, the Briton Jimmie Simpson on AJS wins ahead of his compatriot Frank Longman and the German Franz Seider (both Velocette ).
- In the 500 cc class, Britain’s Graham Walker won on Sunbeam ahead of Irishman Stanley Woods ( Norton ) and Cecil Ashby ( Rudge ).
- The first ever 750 cc race was won by German Josef Stelzer in a BMW ahead of his compatriot and fellow brand name Paul Köppen . Further pilots did not reach the goal.
- In the 1000 cc class, which is also being held for the first time, local Josef Giggenbach wins on Bayerland - JAP ahead of Germans Werner Huth ( Harley-Davidson ) and Heinz Kürten (Andrees).

- German champions are Hans Sprung ( DKW , 175 cm³), Walfried Winkler (DKW, 250 cm³), Herbert Ernst ( AJS , 350 cm³), Hans Soenius ( BMW , 500 cm³), Ernst Jakob Henne ( BMW , 750 cm³) and Paul Rüttchen ( Harley-Davidson , 1000 cm³).

- July: Vera Menchik wins the women's chess world championship in 1927 as the first such title fight , who will remain world champion until her death in 1944.
- September 16 - November 29: The 1927 World Chess Championship ends with defending champion José Raúl Capablanca defeat by Alexander Alekhine , who becomes the fourth world chess champion.
