- 16th - 23. August : The 1930 British Empire Games , the first edition of that event, which now form the Commonwealth Games is known and available in the Canadian city of Hamilton , Ontario instead. 59 competitions in bowls , boxing , athletics , wrestling , rowing and swimming, including water jumping, are held here.

- The European Cup for the National Soccer Teams 1927 to 1930 ends in May . After eight rounds, Italy is the winner ahead of Austria . From 1929 to 1930 there was also an edition for amateur teams that was won by Poland .
- July 13th - 30th : The first soccer world championship takes place in Uruguay . 13 teams from 3 continents take part. At the final in Montevideo , Uruguay defeated the team from Argentina 4-2 and became the first soccer world champion .

- In the quarter liter class, Brit Syd Crabtree prevails on Excelsior against his compatriots Ted Mellors and George Himing (both AJS ).
- In the 350s, Brit Ernie Nott on Rudge wins ahead of Australian Arthur Simcock ( New Imperial ) and Briton Syd Gleave (SGS- JAP ).
