The highlight of the badminton year 1940 was the Malaysia Open . Scandinavia, France, North America, Australia, India and Malaya were the centers of the sport in the second year of the war, while games on the British Isles came to a standstill due to the war.

International Badminton Federation

The International Badminton Federation had 16 members: Australia , Denmark , England , France , India , Ireland , Canada , Malaya , Mexico , New Zealand , Norway , Scotland , Sweden , South Africa , USA and Wales , with South Africa joining the IBF in 1940.
