- At the European motorcycle championship held on the Clady Circuit in Northern Ireland, German Arthur Geiss on DKW wins the title in the 250 cm³ class ahead of British Bob Foster ( New Imperial ) and Irish Gordon Burney ( Moto Guzzi ).
- In the 350s, the British Velocette factory rider Wal Handley wins ahead of his teammates Ernie Thomas and Johnny Duncan ( Norton ), both also from Great Britain.
- In the half-liter class, Briton Jimmie Guthrie wins on Norton ahead of Belgian René Milhoux ( FN ) and his compatriot Arthur Tyler (Velocette).
German motorcycle road championship
- German masters are Arthur Geiss ( DKW , 250 cm³), Oskar Steinbach ( NSU , 350 cc and 500 cc), Hans Schumann / Hermann Böhm ( NSU , carriages 600 cm³) and Karl Braun / Ernst Badsching ( Horex , carriages 1000 cc).

- July 11th : Francisco Cepeda falls on the descent from Col du Galibier and suffers a fractured skull base, from which he dies three days later in hospital. He is the first cyclist to have a fatal accident in a Tour de France .
