YEC was a British car brand.

Company history

The company Yorkshire Engine Company from Sheffield originally represented trams and steam locomotives ago. In 1907 the production of automobiles began . The brand name was YEC . The order for this was placed by British & Colonial Mercedes-Daimler Syndicate Ltd. , founded in 1896 . from Coventry . Although license fees were paid, there was a legal dispute with Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft . As a result, production ended in 1908. A total of 50 vehicles were built.

Road vehicles

The only model was the 30 HP . The model was a Mercedes model. One source names the Mercedes 31/55 hp with a four-cylinder engine and 8 liter displacement , which, however, did not appear until 1909. Another source names a 30 hp Mercedes , for which no data is available. The engine was mounted in the front of the vehicle and drove the rear axle via a chain.
