Hohn is a municipality and rural central town in the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district in Schleswig-Holstein . Julian Ebene, Königsbach, Große Sichten, Mösch, Porrenberg, Hohenheide, Oha and Garlbek are in the municipality.
Geography and traffic
Hohn is located between the rivers Sorge and Eider about 10 km west of Rendsburg on the federal road 202 in the direction of Eiderstedt am Hohner See . The highest elevation in the local area is the Eichberg to the east at 26 m above sea level. NHN . The Hohn station was on the Husum – Erfde – Rendsburg line , which has since been closed .
history
The area has been inhabited since the Stone Age. The name Hohn was first mentioned in the 13th century and probably means height.
After the foundation stone was laid on August 29, 1692, the Marienkirche was consecrated in 1694. Part of its interior and the wooden bell tower, which was dismantled from August 17 to 31, 1691 by order of Duke Christian Albrecht and rebuilt in mockery, come from the Rendsburg Campen Church, which was demolished for work on the fortress.

The community itself is predominantly agricultural. The Bundeswehr Air Transport Wing 63 has been stationed at the Hohn Air Base northeast of the town since 1967 .
Attractions
About 1.5 kilometers north-west of Hohn is the Hohner See nature reserve , which is looked after by the Hohner See nature and environmental protection center based in the old Hohn train station. Since 2007 there has been an otter enclosure in the village where two otters can be observed.
A Transall C-160 has been exhibited behind the old train station since September 2018 .

Handball
The village of Hohn is known nationwide for its enthusiasm for handball. In the 1960s, the men's team of Hohner SV played two seasons in the field handball Bundesliga . In the 2015/2016 season, the male youth A plays in the youth Bundesliga, where they compete against teams such as THW Kiel, SG Flensburg / Handewitt or Füchsen Berlin. This is considered the greatest sporting success in the still young history of the HSG Eider Harde .
