The Taubertal Festival or Taubertal Openair is a rock - and pop open air - music festival , which since 1996 every August in the Tauber Valley in Rothenburg ob der Tauber , Bavaria , takes place. The founder of the festival is Volker Hirsch. The current organization is taken over by the KARO Concert Agency Rothenburg GmbH.

The festival

The festival extends over three days, on each of which around 18,500 (as of 2014) visitors are counted on the site. The festival site on the Rothenburg Eiswiese is delimited by a steep slope on the left side facing the main stage and by the water of the Tauber on the right side .
At the other end of the festival area there is a second stage, the “Sounds for Nature” stage, on which, among other things, the finals of the worldwide emerging band competition Emergenza take place every year . In alternation with the regular bands, the young artists appear on this second stage, and the winners of the competition then finally once more on the main stage.

Big city whispers in the Taubertal 2013

In addition, a new "after-show" concept has existed since 2008, which uses the quarry located near the festival site to set up an "after-show" area in its backdrop. The festival will also open here on the evening of the festival Thursday with the “warm-up” party.

The Taubertal Festival maintains a loose cooperation with the Open Flair and Rocco del Schlacko festivals taking place on the same weekend in the area of booking. However, this is not as extensive as with double festivals that are each organized by the same organizers, such as Rock am Ring / Rock im Park or Southside / Hurricane .
