Town hall of the municipality of La Rosière

La Rosiere is a municipality in the French department of Haute-Saône in the region Bourgogne Franche-Comté .

geography

La Rosière is located at an altitude of 603 m above sea level, nine kilometers northeast of Faucogney-et-la-Mer and about 48 kilometers northeast of the city of Vesoul (as the crow flies). The scattered settlement community extends in the extreme northeast of the department, in the southwest Vosges , in a valley north of the Breuchin .

The area of the 9.00 km² municipal area comprises a section of the plateau landscape on the southwestern edge of the Vosges, which is criss-crossed by valleys. The central part of the area is occupied by the trough of the Tampa, which opens south to the Breuchin. In the far south, the municipality reaches almost into the valley level of the Breuchin on the edge of Corravillers. The basin of La Rosière is flanked by plateaus, in the west by the Roches de la Louvière (752 m), in the east by the heights En Belle Mousse (716 m), Fort de Rupt (775 m) and Bambois , on the 818 m m the highest point of La Rosière is reached. This ridge forms the watershed between the valleys of Breuchin (in the catchment area of the Rhône) and Moselle (catchment area of the Rhine). With a narrow tip, the community area extends northwards over the mostly wooded plateau to the Étang de Rochetay and the crest of the Giraultfaihy (790 m). From a geological and tectonic point of view, the heights consist partly of sediments that were deposited during the Lias , partly the crystalline bedrock emerges. Quaternary deposits can be found on the heights as well as in the valleys . The entire municipality is part of the Ballons des Vosges Regional Nature Park .

La Rosière consists of various hamlets and farms:

  • Les Aivaux (518 m) on a terrace above Corravillers
  • La Bertincôte (553 m) on a terrace above Corravillers
  • La Petite Rosière (634 m) on the slope of the Roches de la Louvière above Corravillers

Neighboring municipalities of La Rosière are Rupt-sur-Moselle in the north and east, Corravillers in the south and La Longine and La Montagne in the west.

history

In the Middle Ages, La Rosière was part of the Free County of Burgundy and in that part of the Bailliage d'Amont area . Local rule was held by the Lords of Faucogney. La Bertincôte is first mentioned in a document in 1371. Together with Franche-Comté , the place finally came to France with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678. La Rosière was only separated from Corravillers after the French Revolution. Today, La Rosière is a member of the community association Communauté de communes des Mille Étangs, which comprises 16 villages . The community does not have its own church; it belongs to the parish of Corravillers.

Attractions

In La Bertincôte there is a Calvaire from the 16th century. Fort de Rupt, which was built in 1875 after the Franco-Prussian War, is located on the parish grounds.

With 80 inhabitants (January 1, 2017), La Rosière is one of the smallest municipalities in the Haute-Saône department. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (617 people were still counted in 1886), only minor fluctuations have been recorded since the beginning of the 1990s.

Economy and Infrastructure

La Rosière is still a village dominated by agriculture (dairy farming and cattle breeding) and forestry. Outside of the primary sector there are few jobs in town. Some workers are therefore commuters who work in the larger towns in the area.

Col du Mont de Fourche

The village is away from the major thoroughfares. The main access is from Corravillers. There are further road connections to La Montagne and to Rupt-sur-Moselle via the 620 m high Col du Mont de Fourche .
